National Youth Market Director

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a National Youth Market Director for Community Development Operations in our National Center office located in Dallas, Texas . This position can be remote but must live near a major airport.

In this role, the National Youth Market Director will be part of a team that is responsible for driving operational planning and execution to achieve significant revenue increases in Youth Market programs and fundraising events: Kids Heart Challenge, American Heart Challenge and District Heart Challenge. In support of the 2020 Impact Goal, the National Youth Market Director will drive our Youth Market programs from their current $85M in revenue to $200M by 2020 – representing 20% of the AHA’s $1 billion revenue goal.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Drive campaign management and oversight of all youth market programs, forecasting trends while driving lead indicators and best practices.
  • Develop new strategies and innovative online digital strategies. Oversight design thinking annual planning and creation of promotions, communication and reward tools to support 100 thousand schools throughout the country. Surface new ideas and fast track to market.
  • Consult and collaborate with national volunteer and staff leaders to help Affiliates, territories, and events focus on the highest impact priorities and drive goal achievement. Balance the strategic (big picture) focus with day-to-day execution. Develop and staff in web-based trainings such as boot camps, program roll out and focus groups.
  • Lead implementation of tactical program elements including prize structure, material management, and online experience through operations with internal and external partners while maintaining the highest level of customer experience.
  • Provide timely direction, framework and resources to market-level volunteers and staff, while at the same time relying on their expertise, abilities, and willingness to leverage networks to drive the goals of the organization.
  • Collaborate and maintain relationships with internal departments such as Business Technology, finance, design center, purchasing, legal, branding and marketing.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Nutrition, Communications, Public Health or related area
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of related experience
  • Six (6) years of experience in a consulting role over which there is no reporting relationship
  • Three (3) years of experience in field fundraising, outside sales, sponsorships, or related nonprofit activities
  • Five (5) years of experience working with top level volunteers such as Public-School Superintendents and/or CEOs
  • Five (5) years of experience working cross-functionally to extend and implement national strategies on a local level
  • Five (5) years of excellent writing ability, presentation skills, project management, and ability to work independently
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated ability to productively participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals.
  • Five (5) years of proven ability to manage multiple projects while producing positive results
  • Five (5) years of comprehensive computer and digital media skills including Microsoft Office products and Customer Relationship Management applications (Blackbaud, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.)
  • Must be able to travel overnight approx. 30% of the time.
