Community Engagement & Fundraising Director - Youth Programs

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent job opportunity for a Fundraising (Sales) Director, Youth Market. In this road warrior position, you work directly with school and corporate partners, existing and new, in a large geographic territory with accounts across Central and Eastern Montana.

Help meet the changing needs of today’s youth and educators by preparing kids for success through physical and emotional well-being!

The Kids Heart Challenge TM is anchored by two core events, jumping rope and basketball skills, with new cardio-pumping activities. Students develop heart-healthy habits through physical activity and learn the value of community service by raising funds for the American Heart Association to help kids with special hearts.

Key responsibilities of the Youth Market Director include prospecting and recruiting schools to participate in the AHA Kids Heart Challenge TM fundraising activities; securing cash sponsorship; training and coaching school volunteers to set and meet fund raising goals; providing excellent customer service to all accounts; and ensuring overall success of the program.

This is a field-based / home-officed position.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Achieve an established fundraising goal
  • Recruit and manage K-12 school accounts (existing and new) to participate in Kids Heart Challenge within the assigned geographic territory
  • Prospect and secure corporate sponsorships
  • Recruit, train, coach and motivate volunteers in Youth Market products and services
  • Build strong relationships with volunteers including School Districts, Principals, Teachers and Parent Teacher Associations through outstanding customer service
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and training
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2+ years outside sales or fundraising experience, with proven track record in achieving goals
  • Strong cold-calling, relationship-building and customer service skills
  • Ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer coaching and management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications and ability to maintain a high volume of account data in a timely and accurate manner
  • Highly effective organizational, multitasking, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently during irregular work hours
  • Willing and able to travel extensively within the territory (up to 30+ school visits per week).Must have valid driver’s license, auto insurance and personal vehicle or other reasonable form of transportation
  • Able to lift 15-20 pounds to transport supplies and materials
