The Youth Venture Coordinator will support activities related to the Boston Youth Venture (BYV) program. Specifically, s/he will provide support to all Boston Youth Venture teams, including coordination of team advisors and volunteer mentors. S/he will support the six Boston Youth Venture events as well as train student teams, team advisors and volunteer mentors in the curriculum.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for Youth Venture team support, volunteer management, and event support including:
  • Provide ongoing support to student teams, team advisors and volunteer mentors throughout the program year. Meet with teams regularly at community centers and afterschool programs.
  • Communicate and manage volunteers and mentors with excellent customer service.
  • Support the planning and execution of Boston Youth Venture events. Attend all events and participate in UW meetings related to the events.
  • Assist in the delivery of assessments, evaluations and data collection.
  • Support development of a curriculum toolkit and training materials for Boston Youth Venture advisors and mentors.
  • Assist with facilitation of Boston Youth Venture curriculum and volunteer training.
  • Other assignments based on needs of the program and interest of the candidate.
Educational Background: 
High School Diploma
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience working with youth, community-based organizations, schools and/or government agencies.
  • Strong belief in the power of young people in making a positive change in their own communities.
  • Available for 10-15 hours per week at $16.00 per hour from 9/24/2018 to 6/10/2019.
  • Ability to work independently with scheduled 1:1 meeting(s) with Supervisor.
  • Ability to be flexible to address unexpected changes (such as weather delays, venue changes, etc.).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, and travel throughout the city of Boston.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain strong partnerships.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office environment and the Internet.
  • Flexible team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to excellence and to the mission of United Way.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary:  Less than $20,000 per year
