The Senior Director, Corporate Relations is an integral part of the team charged with securing funds from priority corporate accounts, leading the annual STEM Leadership Breakfast and Committee, strengthening relationships within the portfolio, engaging with the Development Cabinet, and selling a new United Way philanthropy platform, Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud. The Senior Director, Corporate Relations is expected to spend the majority of their time developing and executing a plan to grow and maintain fundraising for his/her assigned priority and major corporate accounts, which includes using all United Way donor acquisition models (workplace campaigns, leadership events, affinity groups, community engagement, etc.).
He/She will also lead all development aspects of the BoSTEM program, STEM Leadership Breakfast, and STEM Leadership Committee including volunteer engagement, fundraising, and STEM industry presence. He/She will develop a product plan to secure new and incremental funds from an untapped industry. He/She will stay abreast on the current STEM market climate and ensure BoSTEM is at the forefront of STEM corporate partners. Finally, he/she will be interfacing with key constituents and prospects in order to promote Salesforce Philanthropy to new and existing clients and generate revenue within the corporate community.
This position will be reporting to the VP, Corporate Relations and will work alongside both the Corporate Relations team, Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud team, and BoSTEM Community Impact key staff. The outward-facing role will require the candidate to have fundraising experience, leadership abilities, and new business tactics to engage the tech and life sciences industries.
- Manage Key Corporate Accounts/Individual Relationships for significant revenue growth: Direct responsibility for building strong, mutually beneficial relationships with key corporate partners and individuals, focusing on revenue growth through workplace campaigns. In conjunction with the VP, Corporate Relations, the Senior Director will create annual and long-term business strategies and action steps needed to secure additional financial support for United Way. Encourage corporate partners to offer United Way volunteer opportunities to their employees on a regular basis and engage companies and individuals in key United Way events that occur annually, such as Board Connection and the Thanksgiving Project. Additionally, if a company has a philanthropic area of focus, work with their campaign team and/or corporate social responsibility department to align their efforts with one of United Way’s corresponding impact areas. Track revenue generation, retention, donor count, visits and new business activity throughout the year and provide monthly projections against goals.
- Work closely with the Individual Engagement team in development to cultivate and grow relationships with individual leader donors within workplace campaigns. Leverage relationships to create additional opportunities with other organizations and individuals.
- STEM Leadership and BoSTEM program: The Senior Director will manage all development aspects of the program including volunteer engagement, fundraising, and STEM industry presence. He/She will lead the annual spring event, welcoming over 300 STEM leaders with a goal of 10% annual event fundraising growth. He/She will oversee the STEM Excellence Corporate Leaders of the Year award and the event program. He/She will manage and grow a committee of STEM industry leaders to fundraise year-round and engage new STEM corporate partners in BoSTEM. He/She will also launch an engagement plan for each industry within the STEM umbrella (specifically focusing on technology and pharmaceuticals) including overseeing workplace field trips and designing a packaged program investment opportunity. He/She will be observant and curious about the STEM industries/donor base. New Business is a critical need for both the STEM Leadership Breakfast, BoSTEM, and the Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud. He/she will stay apprised of industry activities and possible new donors/contacts. Finally, he/she will reinvent United Way’s relationship with the healthcare industry through program support, partnerships, and leadership buy-in.
- Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud Platform: The Senior Director, Corporate Relations will be an integral part of the Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud team, selling the product to new and existing corporate partners. He/She will help host demonstrations for prospective companies, sign on corporate partners and manage the SPC campaign of these companies.
- Development Cabinet: He/She will work closely with members of the Development Cabinet to increase support with current and new business companies for both the BoSTEM/STEM Leadership Breakfast, new business for Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud and/or traditional United Way employee engagement.
- Teamwork: Work successfully within the Development Department and other UW departments to coordinate and communicate your support needs/requirements and to maximize time in the field. Engage in weekly team meetings, organization sponsored training and teambuilding events as scheduled and present a professional and positive attitude towards team members and staff.
- Communication: A very high level of clear communication is necessary and expected by the Senior Director, Corporate Relations. It is critical to capture information from your external appointments onto cultivation reports in a timely manner. Maintain accurate and detailed donor and account records in Andar in order to analyze the deployment of resources against objectives. In addition, communications will be reviewed by the Vice President, Development and discussed at team meetings.
