In keeping with Fenway Health's commitment to care for the whole person, behavioral health is a fundamental part of our primary care model. We offer individual, group, couple, and family therapy; psychiatric consultation; and addiction services. We are seeking a dynamic Clinical Manager for the Fenway: South End.
Under the direction of the Director of Behavioral Health, the Clinical Manager at Fenway South End provides direct clinical services to clients of the Behavioral Health department, as well as providing supervision to FSE therapists and administrative oversight at FSE on behalf of Fenway’s Behavioral Health department.

 

 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Representative Administrative Duties:

1. Provides direct services to clients:

  • Provides intake evaluations for new clients, using established therapeutic processes.
  • Provides short-term therapy to BH clients, using established therapeutic processes.
  • Provides long-term therapy to BH clients, using established therapeutic processes.
  • Provides couple/family and/or group therapy to BH clients, using established therapeutic processes.
  • Provides crisis intervention, using established therapeutic processes.
  • Provides on-call/crisis service coverage as required, and according to department standards.
  • Adheres to NASW Code of Ethics.

2. Provides training and supervision to assigned staff following FCHC policies and procedures

  • Insures that staff receive a comprehensive program orientation
  • Trains staff regarding the full range of their responsibilities
  • Adheres to the best practices of successful staff supervision
  • Provides ongoing guidance and supervision to assigned staff, including performance management when necessary
  • Provides yearly written evaluations of assigned staff following agency evaluation guidelines
  • Makes employment-related decisions regarding assigned staff within the scope of defined authority and following established agency and program guidelines

3. Leadership Functions

  • Supports and continually improves the provision of professional, comprehensive, and effective clinical services for all BH clients at Fenway South End site
  • Provides leadership and direction to the site consistent with department philosophy and policy
  • Serves as a member of the BH department’s management team
  • Meets regularly in individual supervision with assigned clinicians to:
    • Ensure that clinical services are being provided to meet the needs of clients and families; this includes promoting access to BH care through monitoring of therapist productivity
    • Ensure that documentation is being completed with focus on both quality and timeliness, according to department standards and in accordance with Fenway policy (no later than 14 days)
    • Review treatment relationships and progress
    • Assist in formulations and treatment focus
    • Review clinical assessments
    • Ensure that treatment plans are being implemented
  • Meets regularly with Director of Behavioral Health for supervision
  • Liaisons with site Medical and Patient Services staff
  • Assumes leadership role in site clinical meetings, staff meetings, treatment team meetings
  • In conjunction with Director of Behavioral Health, prioritizes BH-related activities for site and assure that all are completed.

4. Documentation and Information Management Function

  • Completes all documentation in a timely manner according to policies and procedures, and oversees FSE staff to ensure the same
  • Documents Periodic Reviews for assigned clients; assures that all reports are completed
  • Reviews the Chart Closing activities completed by clinical staff as per policy
Educational Background: 
Master of Social Work (MSW)
Master of Mental Health or Psychology
LICSW preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post independent licensure experience in providing direct client care required, preferably in an outpatient therapy setting. At least 3 years’ prior administrative and/or supervisory experience in a mental health and/or substance abuse treatment setting is required.
  • Previous management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with LGBTQ issues, HIV, trauma, and couples therapy is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with substance use disorders, short-term interventions, and group work is preferred.
  • Knowledge of a variety of mental health approaches.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and speaking skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience working with an ethnically, culturally and racially diverse work staff preferred; ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals required.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to multitask required.
Compensation/Benefits:
