The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for an Executive (Fundraising) Director in Boise. As the Director you work closely with leadership volunteers and act as a player/coach in fundraising activities with direct implementation of the Go Red For Women campaign. You supervise administrative staff and have bottom-line accountability for an overall net revenue goal of $450,000 generated through core fundraising campaigns .
Areas of Responsibility:
- Recruits, trains and manages high level volunteers in the medical and non-medical fields to serve in leadership capacities on the local board of directors and in support of fundraising campaigns.
- Directly implements the Go Red For Women Campaign. Leads the process of identifying and securing corporate sponsors and cultivates and engages individual donors supporting the Go Red For Women campaign following best practices
- Coaches and manages fundraising staff responsible for the Heart Walk campaign and actively supports them in adhering to established best practices. Ensures a successful balanced campaign across core markets, workplace giving and individual giving.
- Supervises administrative staff and creates a trusting and team-oriented environment for all staff.
- Conducts ongoing networking and outreach in the community.
- Actively promotes, fosters and participates in the mission related goals of the AHA
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience:
- 5+ years successful experience in progressively responsible positions managing multiple projects in fundraising, education programs, and management
- Ability to accomplish results through recruitment, training, and management of high profile volunteers
- Highly effective organizational, negotiations and interpersonal skills. Detail oriented and ability to multi-task
- Strong communication skills including oral presentations to large and small groups and ability to write clear and concise reports, correspondence, evaluations and other narratives.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and techniques
- Self-starter able to work well in a team driven environment
- Knowledge of AHA’s mission and programs
- Ability and willingness to travel and to work evenings and weekends as needed
Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:
- Experience with the American Heart Association or similar nonprofit organization
- Development experience, including special fundraising events
- Experience in staff management
