You are part of the United Way’s Latin America Team, whose overarching objective is to support the development and positioning of United Way in the region by supporting United Way organizations in 11 countries (Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panamá, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Brazil, Chile and Argentina).

To ensure United Way fully realizes its mission in the region, the Latin America team leverages the international United Way Worldwide network' capacities and knowledge, generate resources, helps to increase brand visibility and shapes cross-border regional initiatives.

The Network Capacity Director provides strategic support and hands-on guidance to local United Ways by identifying and tailoring best practices and relevant tools and resources for organizational strengthening according to regional priorities. Creates regional frameworks to be used by local United Ways to improve their processes and develop capabilities in community impact, resource development, marketing and communications, governance, talent management, among other functional areas. Provides training and exchange opportunities and connects local United Way with other network partners around the world to share knowledge and best practices. Facilitates regional partnerships to enable local United Ways to work together in impact regional programs, joint capacity building initiatives, shared services projects, etc.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Capacity-building frameworks & initiatives

  • Identify and tailor best practices, tools and resources relevant for the regional network, based on organizational improvement goals and regional priorities.
  • Create regional frameworks to be used by local United Ways to improve their processes and develop capabilities in community impact, resource development, marketing and communications, governance, talent management, among other functional areas, according to regional priorities.
  • Develop a systematic process to transfer and actually deploy capacity-building frameworks. Communicates capacity-building efforts to engage local United Ways with the process. Collaborate with other departments within UWW and other United Ways across the network to create training opportunities and best practices exchange sessions for the regional network. Systematize and ensures documentation of capacity-building efforts in UWW digital platforms.
  • Facilitate regional partnerships to enable local United Ways to work together in improving performance, sharing services, saving costs, etc.
  • Support needs arising from information requests and inquiries on a day-to-day basis from Local UWs.

Product Development

  • Develop, together with local United Ways, regional impact products, defined as investment and engagement opportunities for organizations and individuals in regional priority impact areas. Makes best use of the UW network's knowledge and assets, to support local product development processes, which include issue identification, strategy definition, product definition, sales and evaluation.
  • Coordinate with local United Ways and the Investor Relations Manager the design and submission of regional funding proposals.
  • Support the execution of regional impact programs and volunteerism programs by defining network collaboration protocols and quality standards and bringing best practices and successful experiences from the United Way system.
  • Promote the participation of local United Ways in global impact, advocacy & volunteering initiatives.
  • Coordinate and ensure timely reporting to regional donors, working together with local United Ways and the Investor Relations Manager.

Network Performance

  • Develop consultation meetings with local United Ways to agree on performance improvement actions, based on UWW annual evaluations, such as Membership Requirements compliance, Business Performance Index, etc.
  • Work with United Way leadership to take action in case of UW membership requirements non-compliance or member organizations low performance.
Educational Background: 
Masters degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum eight years of experience in designing impact programs and social investment products for both individuals and organizations. Experience in social mobilization projects involving digital technologies is highly desired.
  • Fluent in English (75% of work in English)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic knowledge of project management tools.

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $91,000 to $100,000 per year

Additional Information: 

JOB CONDITIONS:

  • Full-time position
  • Open-term contract with a six-month probation period.
  • Annual Compensation: USD 90.000 – 100.000 depending on profile
  • Start date: November 15th
  • Location:
    • Bogota
    • This position is open for Local UWs staff members in Latin America, so a remote work scheme may be considered.
  • Travels: About 5 travels in Latin America and 2 in the United-States per year
