Certified Nursing Aid (Adult Day Services: Bellevue)

The certified Nursing Aid is an integral member of the nursing team. This position is responsible for four areas within the center: Provision of Activities of Daily Living, Group Facilitation, Care Plan Management, and Quarterly Management.

Basic Responsibilities:

Provision of Activities of Daily Living

  • Assist with showering, feeding, and dressing participants as appropriate
  • Transfer participants to and from bed or chair or other locations within the facility
  • Assist lower functioning participants with toileting needs
  • Ensure consistent cleanliness for incontinent participants
  • Maintain participant dignity and self-respect
  • Reposition participants in beds or chairs
  • Assis in participant ambulation
  • Use safety precautions to prevent the spread of infections and disease
  • Assist with restorative and rehab care with roper instructions and supervision
  • Maintain safe, sanitary, and organized environment
  • Ensure proper personal hygiene for every participant
  • Work with other staff to share ideas, seek assistance, and implement programs

Group Facilitation

  • Design and lead meaningful groups activities
  • Ensure each participant gains something from your groups
  • Ensure appropriateness of group for each participant

Care Plan Management

  • Follow established protocols for assigned Care Plan caseload
  • Individualized, legible, and accurate progress notes written in conformance to WAC 388-71-0746 and 388-502-0020
  • Ensure participant binder conforms to Care Plan Checklist

Quarterly Manager

  • Complete assigned Care Plan Quarterlies in accordance with Quarterly Process
  • Accountable for Care Manager accuracy, legibility, and overall compliance
  • Ensure Quarterly caseload is timely, complete, and accurate

Ancillary Duties

  • Perform set-up, closing, and activity clean-up duties
  • Attend regular staff meetings
  • Perform other such duties as may be assigned

Inter-relationshipsResponsible for maintaining relationships with many individuals.  Frequent contacts may include supervisors, coworkers, participants, and family members/care providers on a regular basis.  A professional demeanor and flexible approach are required, as is knowledge of who to refer to when faced with an unfamiliar issue. Working ConditionsMost duties will be carried out in the program and on program grounds.  Occasional travel to other offices and/or program facilities may be necessary.  Physical requirements include:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. up to 20 times per day
  • Ability to frequently change position: stand, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, twist and carry
  • Must be highly flexible and adaptable, able to respond quickly to the changing needs of participants, families and Adult Day Services
  • Work hours may vary to meet the needs of the participants and program.

Qualifications:

  • A high school graduate or the equivalent.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Current certification as a CNA, with minimum one year experience.
  • Prior experience working in health care, aging services, and/or services for people with disabilities (preferred).
  • Flexible schedule of availability.
  • CPR/First Aid certification and Food Handler’s Card within first 30 days of hire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have appropriate computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office to fulfill requirements of the position in an expedient manner.
  • Must pass DSHS background check (and FBI fingerprint check if a Washington resident for less than three (3) years).
  • Must have proof of U.S. citizenship or right to work.
