Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge, a nonprofit, Christian based homeownership ministry, is seeking a full time Family Support Coordinator to work alongside our Senior Family Selection Coordinator and Family Services Director to provide client management for partners in our low income homebuyers program and our flood rebuilding program for low income homeowners.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with partners, volunteers, Board members and staff.
  • Oversee the sweat equity (volunteer hours with Habitat) requirement for each partner by communicating weekly, scheduling, data entry and tracking, and monthly reporting, as well as working alongside the partners on the construction site two days a week to help build the homes.
  • Manage the homebuyer education and financial literacy program to help develop successful homeowners.
  • Maintain relationships with other community organizations to allow for a strong referral program, both to help partners in our program and homeowners address their needs and to get new qualified partners into our programs.
  • Develop a strong base of trained volunteers to pair one-on-one with each partner in the program to act as a mentor and support system.
  • Plan and coordinate celebrations for and with the partners such as Blessings of the Build on the first day of home construction, Dedications of the Home on the last day of construction, quarterly parties such as Hab-I-Blast in the Spring and the Holiday party, and other special events as needed.
  • Act as main point of contact for homeowners interested in applying for the Flood Rebuilding program to answer questions, provide and accept applications, evaluate initial eligibility, and attend on site home assessments.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Proven ability to work with diverse populations in a respectful and productive manner.
  • Some knowledge of basic financial literacy (credit, budgeting, etc.) and homeownership would be helpful.
  • Must be comfortable building and maintaining professional relationships with a wide variety of organizations and individuals in the Baton Rouge community.
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking, as well as teaching and leading large groups of volunteers.
  • Previous experience with Habitat for Humanity or on a construction site is a plus!
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required.
