Serves as an officer a nearly $37M organization. Leads and provides strategic direction for development and operation of UWCM’s Accounting & Finance, Information Technology, Digital Solutions, Risk Management, Compensation & Benefits and Donor Services departments. Responsibilities: cash management, decision making on all aspects of the division’s operation, internal and external financial reporting, pledge-related activities, management of multiple budgets, grant accounting and management of accounting system and multi-year budgeting to enable the organization to make timely, proactive and knowledgeable business decisions for operations. Serves as a resource offering problem resolution, technical assistance & counsel.
Accounting & Finance, Risk Management, Compensation & Benefits (40%)
- Manage development of multi-year budgets with integrated cash flow statements, with emphasis on cost reduction to enable the organization to be more competitive.
- Manage accounting system to analyze costs for all business lines: workplace campaigns, pledge amount; all pledge transaction types with emphasis on cost reduction. Work with management to integrate strategies into UWCM’s business plan.
- Provide long- and short-term financial forecasting including interim campaign, designations and budget projections, monthly review of operating expenses to determine projected actual expenses and multi-year analysis of impact of withdrawals on endowment.
- Conduct financial reporting: monthly financial statements, interim reports for government contracts and compliance reports for grant requirements, etc.
- Facilitate annual audits for UWCM, government campaigns and those required by grantors.
- Manage preparation, review, approval and filing of 990 tax return.
- Manage budgeting cycle including income & expenses for UWCM’s operation, government campaigns and, in partnership with Impact Strategies, grants. Prepare campaign spending plan.
- Oversee cash management: timely deposit and posting of payments, follow up with companies and individuals regarding payment, timely reconciliation of problems/issues and cash flow projections that integrate with multi-year budgets.
- Perform financial analysis at least monthly including maintenance of historical numbers for use in presentations, reports and analyses - in addition to standard operating reconciliations.
- Ensure appropriate, accurate accounting practices. Determine impact of new accounting standards and assist with required changes. Recommend policies and procedures that increase efficiencies, provide more effective internal controls and reduce costs & assist with implementation.
- Maintain relationships and negotiate terms for services with banking institutions.
- Co-lead risk management program, including property and casualty insurance and cybersecurity.
- Partner with AVP of Talent Management and Diversity regarding financial feasibility of changes to benefits and analysis of salary and benefit projections.
Information Technology and Digital Solutions (15%)
- Manage execution of short- and long-term plans, telecommunications and product development emphasizing use of technology to improve efficiencies and drive down operating costs.
- Prepare capital budget and review providing guidance on technology needs from a user perspective.
- Develop and manage the I.T. strategic plan in coordination with UWCM plan.
- Provide support and guidance to Donor Services including training, problem resolution and integration with Finance Department.
Donor Services (15%)
- Lead and manage Donor Services, which includes managing all pledge activities, processing of three government campaigns, all donor choice designations and account receivable responsibilities.
- Coach and train staff in areas such as account research, customer service, designation management, problem resolution and receivable collections.
Management and Supervision (15%)
- Supervise VP of Finance, Director of Donor Services, VP of IT and Digital Solutions, and the compensation & benefits aspects of the AVP of Talent Management and Diversity’s work.
- Conduct division meetings, at least quarterly, to share division and UWCM priorities.
- Serve on UWCM’s Executive Management Team.
- Serve on Building Committee including budget management, financing of project and cash flow.
- Respond to all requests/inquiries in a professional manner within one business day. Research problems and take appropriate action for successful resolution. Maintain contact at least every 48 business hours until problems are resolved.
Long-term investments (10%)
- Provide leadership for investment of endowment & retirement plans, including 457 and 403(b) plans.
- Work with Investment Committee to oversee long-term investments in endowment and retirement accounts (review specific investments, performance & compliance with established UWCM policies.
- Partner with outside Chief Investment Officer to be sure that organizational investment practices are in compliance with established organizational investment policies.
- Review and update investment policies as needed. Work with Development to update endowment spending policies established through the Endowment Program Policies and Operating Procedure.
- Provide analysis of 403(b), 457 plans’ investments by fund and level of participation. Work with the Investment Committee to ensure UWCM is exercising adequate review of the appropriateness of investments offered and overall performance.
- Encourage participation and provide education regarding 403(b) Retirement Plan.
- Coordinate with Retirement Plan Administrator, Record-keeper, Custodian and Auditor to ensure compliance with all regulatory issues in the 403(b) Plan.
Volunteer Support (5%)
- Staff the Audit & Finance Committee, Investment Committee, and Technology Committee.

- Includes a wide range of constituents in private, public & nonprofit sectors, primarily in financial services.
- A minimum of 10 years general management and supervisory experience with demonstrated performance in financial management and information technology. CPA required.
