Overall management of strategy development, planning, execution and follow up related to United Way of Central Maryland’s (UWCM) Women United.
United Way's Women United is the common thread that connects philanthropic and altruistic-minded women to the issues affecting central Maryland’s impoverished communities and to each other. Women United has stayed true to its founding values: philanthropy, mentoring, advocacy, volunteering and networking.
With more than 1,350 members, Women United brings together their members’ energy, expertise and generosity. The value of each member’s unique contribution is multiplied to fulfill a greater purpose.
Women who give $1,000 or more annually to United Way of Central Maryland are recognized as members of Women United. Women who give $10,000 or more annually are also recognized as members of the Women United – Tocqueville. Currently, there are more than 170 donors who contribute at the Women United - Tocqueville level.
- Connect the purpose and work of UWCM’s Women United to UWCM’s overall mission, specific initiatives and partner agencies
- Develop a plan to focus efforts on retention and recruitment of Women United membership to grow annual gifts of $1,000- $9,999 and a special focus on gifts of $10,000 or more at the Women United - Tocqueville level
- Manage and support Women United Chair, Vice Chair and Women United Executive Council. Executive Council, comprised of 20 dynamic female business and community leaders, meets five times annually and a Chair/Vice Chair conference call is held monthly
- Support the Engagement and Welcome Committees. Oversight of Mentor Program that partners Women United members transitioning out of the Emerging Leaders United Affinity Group (40 years and under) with current Women United and Women United – Tocqueville members to connect and guide each other professionally, personally and philanthropically
- Work closely with UWCM’s Relationship Mangers to identify potential Women United prospects
- Schedule and personally meet with current and prospective Women United members, focusing on members at the Women United - Tocqueville level, to cultivate relationships, connect them to UWCM’s work, to explore their passions to help make that connection, to encourage participation in Women United engagement opportunities
- Plan, coordinate (internally and externally), and execute events that encompass social opportunities, an education component of UWCM’s work and connection to specific UWCM initiatives including the biennial Women’s Forum. Forum organization includes supporting event co-chairs, committee and coordinating with various internal departments to ensure the event aligns with UWCM’s strategic plan and Women United’s initiatives
- Plan, coordinate (internally and externally), and execute volunteer opportunities for Women United members and their families
- Plan, coordinate (internally and externally), and execute advocacy opportunities for Women United members
- Develop communications strategies, in conjunction with Marketing team, to connect Women United to UWCM’s mission and manage the Women United microsite on UWCM’s website
- Help Women United members make connections to one another
- Engage local corporate womens and diversity groups by forming formal Women United corporate groups or engaging them to embrace the work of our Women United and United Way within their own groups
- Connect our local Women United to United Way Worldwide’s national effort and best practices
- Manage assigned corporate campaign accounts. Work with Employee Campaign Coordinators to strategize a plan to execute a successful workplace campaign. Work with Major Gifts staff and leadership at corporate organization to retain current and recruit new Tocqueville members
Salary: $51,000 to $60,000 per year
