Development Director, Cycle Nation

We have an excellent opportunity for a Development Director - CycleNation . The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in conjunction with the Regional Sr. Director for Active Events to build upon the success of AHA’s CycleNation campaign and expand across the state to new markets, specifically Austin and San Antonio. CycleNation is a high-energy, experiential spin bike relay event that brings companies and individuals together to get brain and heart healthy through the power of cycling. CycleNation is uniquely mission aligned as cycling can prevent heart disease, and aid in faster recovery for stroke patients.

This position will be a part of the Austin and San Antonio active events team and help successfully achieve an overall fundraising goal of $200,000, which will be achieved through corporate sponsorship and driving participant income.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Drive new business development through sponsorship and corporate fundraising. High focus on developing relationships with new companies as we expand CycleNation into new markets in 2018/2019.
  • Develop relationships with volunteers, sponsors & key corporate & community leaders to successfully drive participation in CycleNation.
  • Manage peer-to-peer fundraising in participating CycleNation companies to achieve revenue goals.
  • Perform donor/fundraiser data entry and generate donor/fundraising reports (Blackbaud, Kintera Luminate).
  • Monitor participant fundraising trends and implement proven strategies to maximize revenue for all CycleNation events in Austin and San Antonio.
  • Serve as internal point person alongside Regional Sr. Director of Active Events to manage all logistics for CycleNation. This includes CycleNation Leadership Team Kickoff, Executive Leadership Team meetings, Executive Challenge Kickoff, 3-4 in studio events across the area and CycleNation’s takeover event.
  • Proactively provide event support for priority revenue generation. Plan event’s logistics (i.e.: securing venue, reviewing vendor contracts, printing, rentals, etc.).
  • Organize and create AHA account team contacts, sponsorship contacts, proposals, letters of agreement, sponsorship payments, presentations and benefits delivered.
  • Ensuring successful collaboration and implementation of national CycleNation strategies.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years of experience in fundraising, outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity. With an emphasis on new business development.
  • Organization, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Candidates must be innovative and results driven with the ability to multi task. Must also be willing and able to travel within Austin and San Antonio markets approximately 75% of the time.
  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs. from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
