Associate Senior Development Director, Heart Walk

We have an excellent opportunity for an Associate Senior Corporate Development Director, Heart Walk in our Austin, TX office. In this role, you will serve as a critical fundraising team member on the Austin Heart & Stroke Walk Teams and manage one associate director who oversees the Hays & Caldwell County Heart Walk. These events bring together corporate partners, medical leaders, community leaders, and volunteers of the community to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke, the number #1 and #5 killers in America. The territory is the Austin area with a smaller Walk each spring in the Hays & Caldwell County, San Marcos community.

The next Hays & Caldwell County Heart Walk is in April 2020 and the Austin Heart & Stroke Walk is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2019. The combined goal for this year’s Walks is $1.73M.

You will also coach and develop a staff member to exceed aggressive fundraising goals – these are critical competencies as well as creating a vision and translating it into specific action plan. You will actively work with this team member to grow existing accounts, secure new ones and expand the volunteer base. As the Associate Senior Corporate Development Director, you will also spend three quarters of your time leveraging relationships into successful fundraising campaigns with local corporate companies.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage a staff team member towards achieving established goals and objectives.
  • Ability to set strategic vision for the annual campaign and to communicate that vision with the staff and volunteer team charged with the Heart & Stroke Walk’s success.
  • Campaign volunteer recruitment of high-level corporate volunteers to serve on the campaign Executive Leadership Team and in the Chair role.
  • Revenue generation through corporate sponsorships for the Heart Walk and employee & community participation in team and individual fundraising.
  • Conduct sales calls to generate new business and manage existing companies.
  • Develop and manage relationships with volunteers, sponsors and key corporate & community leaders.
  • Expand our reach into the philanthropic community of individuals to raise funds and awareness.
  • Coordinate and manage an associate director to encompass every aspect of assigned campaigns and work with the event planning staff on the logistics of the events in both Hays/Caldwell County and Austin.
  • Track, report and manage results using a variety of database and campaign management systems with a proven track record in meeting sales/fundraising goals.

The AHA provides world class systems, customized training, and management support to help our staff succeed.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 4+ years of experience in fundraising, outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position ’ s educational requirement.
  • Organization, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Results driven with the ability to multi task.
  • Willing and able to travel within the Hays County and Austin markets to accomplish goals approximately 75% of the time.
  • Able to work non-standard hours such as early starts and/or late endings to the work day as needed.
  • Able to lift at least 20 lbs. from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Intermediate knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Non-smoking environment.
