Summary:Currently, ESCT is looking to diversify its audience and constituent database online and off. To achieve this ESCT is seeking a Development & Marketing Intern. The intern will work directly with the Development Team to research and cultivate supporters, manage the organization’s donor, event, and volunteer databases, assist in managing communications across social media, email and web and assist in event coordination. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and motivated individual to develop skills in nonprofit development work.
Under the direction and supervision of the Communications and Marketing Manager, the intern will be responsible for providing support as needed throughout all phases of fundraising communications, event planning, marketing efforts and implementation. The Development staff will ensure that all internship course requirements are met through all internship tasks and evaluations. This internship is available for the fall 2017 semester and can extend to spring 2018.
Basic Responsibilities:- Assist in the planning of community and fundraising events
- Assist in collecting stories and writing quarterly e-Newsletter
- Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories
- Designing flyers, e-vites and other marketing material for major events hosted by ESCT
- Update the ESCT website and database when needed
- Help with development of PSAs and content for social media and website.
- Assist in the organization and implementation of awareness and giving campaigns
- Reach out to community organizations, general public and donors with the message about ESCT’s mission.
- Assist development team with administrative tasks.
- Collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing, communications, and fundraising.
- Assist in processing donations and preparing acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
- Working toward a college degree; major in marketing, journalism, communications a plus
- Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus
- Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Knowledge of Word Press a plus
- An effective communicator, both written and oral
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts
- Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
