The Social Media & PR Coordinator will help to tell United Way of Greater Atlanta’s story online, using our digital communications channels to connect with new audiences and deepen relationships in our communities. The ideal candidate is a word nerd with an eye for compelling content, passion for storytelling, impeccable spelling and grammar skills and experience hitting tight deadlines.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Community management of social media groups and pages
  • Social listening and proactive online engagement with United Way partners and donors
  • Live event coverage (some nights and weekends required)
  • Assist in the creation, drafting and scheduling of social media content
  • Collaborate with content managers to adapt impact stories for use on blog, social media and in press pitches
  • Assist in the management of affinity group social media channels
  • Assist in the creation of social media ads
  • Assist in the coordination and filming of weekly Share Your Why videos
  • Tell the story of our social media progress via highlights and key metrics that can be shared with internal audiences
  • Identify and build relationships with online influencers for potential partnerships
  • PR duties as assigned could include but not limited to: drafting press releases, managing media lists, press outreach
  • Build and curate user-generated content library
  • Manage content bank for social media and PR
Educational Background: 
Degree in Journalism, Communications, English, PR or similar
Skills/Experience: 
  • 1 - 2 years of experience in a social media or PR role
  • Excellent writing & grammar skills
  • Avid social media user; familiarity with major social networks required (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Snapchat)
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment where collaboration is key
  • Some nights and weekends required
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred:

  • Agency experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Facebook Ads Manager platform
  • Familiarity with AP Style
  • Experience with social media listening platforms like Hootsuite and Sprout Social
  • Video skills, experience with video editing software (iMovie, etc.)
