The Grants Management Specialist performs a full range of work in support of grant and contract fund management, compliance, fiscal analysis, and related operational functions. This position is responsible for coordinating the financial administration and contractual compliance of activities related to all grants and will serve as financial liaison and primary administrative support to other departments with respect to administering grant agreements and associated budgets.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Prepare pre-award budget assignments and assistance with grant applications.
- Provide post-award tasks such as general ledger analysis for sponsored program funding, preparation of fiscal reports, including grant budget, financial performance, and reconciliation reports for both public/government grants. Prepare and submit budget modifications when necessary. Prepare monthly and quarterly grant billing and submit all invoices for government grant funds, including any and all backup documentation. Maintain FTE schedules, grant payroll, and time effort reporting
- Coordinate with staff in completing audits and site visits as required and ensure positive findings regarding financial management
- Work closely with internal Project Directors on grant activities to ensure compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Educational Background:
4 year college degree
Skills/Experience:
- 2-4 years experience directly related to grant management
- Foundation and Government related pre and post –award experience.
- Ability to analyze problems and propose solutions.
- Due to the pressure to meet deadlines, willingness to tackle work before directed to but also good judgment on when to seek advice, support and guidance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in order to present information to team members and to people outside of the March of Dimes clearly and succinctly.
- Grants management database experience and strong computer skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize staff workload effectively and efficiently
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office software and with financial accounting and analysis, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ability to quickly learn and manage electronic database systems - Ability to draft basic agreements
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Ability to write clearly and informatively
- Ability to meet challenges with resourcefulness
- Good task estimation skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment.
- Experience reading and auditing contracts
- Be insightful and have great business acumen
