The Designer will operate with a strong work ethic, desire to learn and have demonstrated fundamental knowledge of design and typography. The Designer will ensure the look and feel of the final product is consistent with the direction from the design lead and meet technical specifications for production. The Designer will be motivated to contribute ideas to improve the quality of work in a team setting.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • 60% print collateral design, development & editing
  • 30% Online collateral design and development
  • 10% Client engagement, brainstorming sessions, information gathering
  • Execute design concepts and adhere to creative direction from beginning to the end of each project. Work independently as well as collaboratively (depending on the project) and communicate project status with project lead. Produce graphics to meet specified size and format for print, web, and video and prepare design files for print vendors.
  • Contribute to the development of brand identities for United Way initiatives & develop looks for events.
  • Complete design work and send/proof sample to appropriate internal customer for review/approval and prepare design files for print vendors
  • Retouch images and correct color for print and web
Educational Background: 
knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job – or relevant experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2-4 years’ work experience in a graphic design role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with current graphic design software, Adobe CS5 or later, and Microsoft Office on a mac platform.
  • Strong working knowledge of fonts families and typefaces and image file management formats. Strong layout, typography and design
  • Strong working knowledge of file prep for web, video and print. Familiarity with web (HTML/HTML5 knowledge) a plus, but not necessary. Video editing and photography skills a plus, but not necessary.
  • Self-motivated, deadline-driven, organized and accountable. Ability to work independently, collaboratively and under close direction.
  • Well-developed communication skills including ability to articulate creative concepts and rationale to others.
