Habitat for Humanity International is currently seeking a talented and energetic professional to join a growing donor relations program for the role of Associate Director, Donor Relations and Stewardship. As a part of the Donor Relations team, the Associate Director of Donor Relations & Stewardship is responsible for directing a successful donor relations program and the individual, corporate and foundation relations fundraising teams in their efforts to secure gifts to further Habitat’s mission and the retention of its donors.

The Associate Director's main responsibilities include creation, implementation and management of a donor recognition program for high level donors; Management and implementation of a donor engagement plan for individual, corporate, foundation and planned giving donors. This position is creative and highly strategic. The candidate should have the ability to work alongside many stakeholders and develop a deep understanding of current stewardship practices and donor communications at HFHI and seek new opportunities for engaging Habitat donors.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop, establish and manage a donor recognition program (donor giving societies) for high level donors that enhances the donor giving experience and provides excellent donor engagement. The candidate will develop strategic plans for the structure of donor giving societies, which includes peer institution benchmarking, research, proposals and execution plans as well as a process to track donors by levels for tiered recognition and stewardship.
  • Develop and maintain a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly plan for engagement plan/task-related execution, and serve as point person for driving execution of approved strategy.
  • Partner with the Communications and Marketing teams. This includes:
    • Maintaining a close relationship with the Partner Communications team, which supports HFHI’s corporate partners.
    • Producing and tracking customized stewardship, marketing, reporting and informational collateral as appropriate and necessary to advance donor relationships.
    • Acting as the liaison between the Resource Development department and the Communications and Marketing Department.
    • Developing and maintaining resources for donor communications for seamless and targeted information to donors.
  • Utilize donor database to track, monitor, and manage engagement activities for high level donors.
  • Provide critical support for Donor Relations engagement events and activities, which includes handling of on-site logistical matters, answering donor/guest questions, interacting and providing high level customer service to high profile donors on an ongoing basis.
Educational Background: 
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills/Experience: 

Required Qualifications:

  • 8 years of direct experience
  • Thorough understanding of a centralized Donor Relations program and Donor Relations best practices
  • Donor communications or donor support/public relations experience
  • Excellent written, presentation and oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex tasks involving multiple internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and/or events at a time and meet tight deadlines
  • A high degree of personal initiative, with the ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization (both internal and external) with enthusiasm and flexibility
  • Solution-oriented
  • Demonstrated computer skills proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing donor giving societies or recognition program a plus
  • Prior experience in nonprofit environment
  • Experience in fundraising software
