Position is responsible for coordinating nationwide planned giving, major gifts and mid-level marketing initiatives, providing input and budget analysis in establishing direction of the program. They also provide assistance and training of staff and volunteers in how to promote planned giving, major gifts and mid-level giving.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Strategic Planning: Work closely with the planned giving, major gifts and mid-level giving teams to establish a communications and marketing plan on annual basis. Plans should include integrated, multi-channel communications cadence and timeline for materials development.
  • Marketing materials and vendor management: Responsible for the creation of marketing materials in support of planned giving, major gifts and mid-level giving efforts. Works with markets on the distribution of materials to help insure that all materials remain current according to tax law, gift annuity rates, internal branding guidelines etc. Supervise production and distribution of electronic newsletters GiftLegacy and GiftLaw. Negotiate rates with vendors such as Crescendo, Stelter Publications, R&R Newkirk and other service providers for planned giving marketing and services.
  • Staff and volunteer training and support: Serve as liaison to National Office staff, Market staff and volunteers on planned, major and mid-level giving matters. Develops marketing training sessions for staff and volunteers. Organize training schedules, provide guidance and resource marketing materials in order to secure more gifts and ultimately increase bequest income.
  • Support lead generation and management: Support communication needs for the initial communication of leads and inquiries from people who respond to or request information from mailings, ads etc.
  • Budgets: Direct the development and administration of the major gifts, mid-level and planned giving marketing budget, supervises the direction of the major gifts, mid-level and planned giving marketing plan to meet the planned giving marketing goals and objectives. Attends budget planning and other meetings involving the department. Maintains and analyzes records pertaining to the departmental budget.

Educational Background: 
Four year college degree

  • Planned Giving marketing experience required. Must understand the basic legal aspects of the following gift options: Gift Annuities, Revocable Trusts, Charitable Remainder Annuity Trusts, Unitrusts and Life Estate Agreements. Demonstrated project and prospect management success. Strong planning and analytical skills. Budget planning and management experience. Staff and volunteer training abilities. Candidate be competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Crescendo (planned giving software), and CRM.
  • Planned Giving marketing training from National Association of Charitable Gift Planning a plus.
  • Candidate should be self-motivated, have good phone skills, ability to multitask, and detail-oriented. Works well independently and is a self-starter. Exhibits good judgement. Must have strong organization skills. Outstanding verbal and written skills, including public speaking a must.
