FHI 360 seeks a Senior Nutrition Specialist for the anticipated USAID/Jordan Community Health and Nutrition Activity. This activity aims to improve the nutritional status of children under five and pregnant and lactating women in target areas in Jordan. The Senior Nutrition Specialist will lead technical activities to improve infant and young child feeding and promote healthy household diets. Local national candidates encouraged to apply.
- Oversee the technical direction of nutrition activities;
- Provide strategic leadership on nutrition policy and programming;
- Provide guidance and technical support in alignment with Government of Jordan nutrition and health policies and strategies, including USAID policy priorities;
- Contribute to program/project design, implementation, learning, and monitoring and evaluation through active collaboration with project teams;
- Oversee development of tools, guidelines, standards to improve program quality;
- Contribute to the learning agenda by writing nutrition background documents, briefs, and presentations;
- Actively engage in nutrition networks and forums to support government nutrition priorities and promote involvement of multiple government sectors, donors, and the private sector in nutrition-related initiatives; and,
- Maintain diplomatic and high-quality interactions and clear and consistent communications internally and with partners in the field.
- Minimum of five years’ experience designing and implementing nutrition programs, with particular emphasis on infant and young child feeding and/or healthy diets;
- Demonstrated capacity building experience and significant expertise providing technical assistance to community based organizations (CBOs) and health care providers;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide range of partners including government, community based organization, implementing partners, and other donor organizations;
- Prior experience in the Jordan nutrition sector desirable;
- Excellent inter-personal, communication and facilitation skills; and
- Fluency in Arabic and English required.
