Health Data Lead

Health Data Lead is a new exciting role at the American Heart Association that offers a unique opportunity to lead data strategy and execution across the organization. The role will work with the Emerging Strategies and Ventures Team and serve as a critical liaison between Emerging Health and Business strategies, the AHA’s Mission Aligned Business and Health Solutions teams and other business segments. This role is critical to American Heart Association’s efforts to understand & leverage AHA healthcare data as a core asset, identify new opportunities and partnerships that catalyze data powered products & solutions and implement organization wide health care data governance. This person should be a highly motivated, experienced data innovator who is able to drive tangible results and collaborate with cross functional with business teams and leadership.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and implement scalable, flexible data architecture that supports, leverages & manages AHA health data as a core asset to build products and solutions
  • Provide expertise and guidance on health data management through standard operating practices and data models for - collection, harmonization, normalization, transformation, integration, and utilization
  • Lead health data governance across the organization including standard operating procedures and working with business unit owners, volunteer-led advisory task force, and transaction team comprised on finance and legal.
  • Support and enhance the delivery of health data-driven insights that help support business objectives
  • Work cross-functionally with business teams, transaction team (including legal and finance) and leadership on identifying and implementing new opportunities and partnerships powered by health data
  • Advise on fair market value propositions & revenue opportunities and models for usage of AHA health data assets in business opportunities and solutions
  • Possess deep understanding of trends of strategies around business of healthcare data, data analytics, Big Data, AI, ML, emerging technologies, privacy and security frameworks
  • Be a champion for a data-driven, decision-making culture
Educational Background: 
A Bachelors’ degree from a globally recognized institution of higher learning is required
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of prior experience with a successful track record in leveraging data as an asset, data innovation, data commercialization, and related data infrastructure & architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across interdisciplinary teams including but not limited to product engineers, senior leaders, scientists, etc.
  • Possess ability to influence without authority, with outstanding oral/written skills in communicating complex data-driven topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A passion for enabling big data-driven decision-making processes across business functions
  • Proven experience in supporting tactical business planning & modeling
  • Proven experience in implementing and leveraging cutting edge analytic tools and capabilities, including B2B, B2C and cross-channel integration tools
  • Possess deep understanding of the healthcare, life sciences, health-tech & big tech industry or related verticals
  • Creative, entrepreneurial, collaborative thinker with an ability to learn new things, assess problems and identify proactive solutions quickly
  • Self-starter, comfortable leading change and getting things done
  • Travel is required (at least 10%), including overnights.
