The Summer Learning Support VISTA will support the advancement of our newly created Lehigh Valley Summer Learning Coalition aiming to build a regional summer learning system that supports our UW Community School network at the center and other students and schools as impact spreads. The VISTA will build a family outreach and engagement system aimed at connecting parents to information about importance and availability of summer learning resources and to leadership structures where they can shape direction of the effort. They will map who is providing what over the summer at a more grassroots level in the community including faith based organizations, colleges, universities and smaller non-profits. The VISTA will build capacity with our summer learning work through refinement of the assessment or creation of a secondary survey based on additional data needed to further the work.
An AmeriCorps VISTA assignment is unpaid and lasts for one year. Participants must be 18 years of age and hold a four year college degree. They receive an end-of-service stipend or education award, health coverage, training, a relocation allowance, a living allowance and childcare assistance if eligible. The work is full-time; VISTAs are permitted to do paid part-time work during their assignment to supplement their income.
Our AmeriCorps VISTAs work closely with our education team, most assignments are based in our community schools. 12 assignments are currently posted.
