Manager, Caribbean Transition

  • Work location: Alexandria, VA; Miami, FL; Jamaica or Trinidad & Tobago.
  • Must have own computer equipment.

As the Manager you will be responsible for combining support operations for United Way Network partners in the Caribbean Region with the support operations for United Way Network partners in the Latin America Region.  You will oversee the continuation of the Caribbean Expansion Project in Barbados and St. Lucia.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Integration Plan – project plan and timeline for integration process which includes:
    • Orientation for Caribbean Local United Ways on organizational processes used by Local United Ways in Latin America.
    • Identification of key organizational priorities for the Local United Ways in the Caribbean.
    • Proposed organizational structure for the new Caribbean & Latin America Regional Office.
    • Proposed structure for the new Caribbean & Latin America Regional Council.
    • Development of combined draft strategic plan.
  • Caribbean Expansion – project plan, timeline, and budget for continuing expansion in Barbados and St. Lucia which includes:
    • Feasibility studies to determine the key areas of opportunity for United Way Worldwide and the possibility/probability of establishing a sustainable operation in each market. This includes a recommended entry strategy.
    • Coordinate appointment of project lead in each market.
  • Use experience and expertise to provide the best solutions for each of the deliverables.
  • Communicate all relevant opportunities, issues, findings, and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Provide progress reports, recommendations, and other requested outcomes in meaningful and user-friendly formats.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
At least ten (10) years of post-graduate, relevant work experience. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Fluent in English and Spanish. 
  • Lived and/or worked in either region—preferably the Caribbean. 
  • Project management experience. 
  • Familiarity with United Way; prior work with United Way ideal.
