Join us to lead, design and build the next generation digital engagement platform for United Way World Wide to transform our business and drive donor engagement, acquisition and retention. We’re looking for a motivated experienced technology director who will to apply their skills in a fast paced, agile environment.

This role will be a part of a team responsible for designing and delivering United Way World Wide’s world-class solution for Digital Engagement and Donor Management. We’re looking for proficiency in Salesforce development, mobile-responsive applications, integration, automation, and user experience, as well as the ability to guide a development team and build knowledge amongst a growing team of junior developers.

The Technology Director role will work on a project team responsible for developing and enhancing Digital Services Operating Group applications. The Director is assigned the most complicated and critical development tasks, so we’re looking for experienced developers who aren’t afraid of a challenge.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION: An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

  • Demonstrate extensive experience in an agile software development environment such as Lean, Extreme Programming (XP) and/or Scrum. Deep knowledge of the software development lifecycle, production implementation, and post implementation support are necessary.
  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of Salesforce platform.
  • Ability to take business requirements and develop the technical design for an application to be deployed in production around the world.
  • Deep technical knowledge of mobile application development (either Android or iOS) and understanding of OS-specific APIs with a demonstrated experience working end to end.
  • Architect the application platform, including the backend, messaging, and UI layers
  • Design and develop rapid prototyping across different architectural layers, i.e. database, application server, workflow, messaging and event management, and user interface
  • Ensure the highest quality implementations from design, through QA, to production.
  • Work effectively in a diverse technical environment.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and a high level of customer service are required.
  • Able to define and communicate requirements to the project team.
  • Conduct appropriate code and test reviews for assigned projects. Promote and follow the established processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with organization and regulatory policies and standards.
  • Experience working in a cross functional team and the ability to collaborate with designers and other back-end engineers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, a love for technical challenges, and a willingness to learn.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Computer Science or related field is preferred, MS a plus.
  • 4-5 years with Salesforce.com developing on / administering a large Salesforce.com instance
  • Knowledgeable in standard functions/ modules of Salesforce.com: Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Community Cloud, and AppExchange/App cloud application integration
  • Demonstrated experience with Salesforce.com development platform
  • Highly Preferred – Certified Developer (401), Advanced Developer (501) certifications. One of the following certifications: Salesforce Sales Cloud or Salesforce Service Cloud
  • Experience with large scale system implementation, integration, interfaces and data conversion
  • Experience in using efficient methodologies (e.g. Agile – Extreme programing, writing user stories, and test-driven development) and continuous deployment tools (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Minimum 3 years of comprehensive experience in web / enterprise application development in Microsoft Windows platform and related technologies
  • In-depth experience with .NET platform and related technologies
  • Solid understanding of OOP, relational databases, and SQL for implementing database-driven, web-based applications
  • Solid understanding of design and coding on all tiers of web applications and services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong problem-solving abilities and an aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Must possess interpersonal, group discussion, decision making, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including good written and verbal abilities
  • Self-motivated, creative and strong sense of accountability
  • Understanding of usability, accessibility, security and privacy standards as applicable in eCommerce and digital privacy
  • Proven experience in bridging the needs and pace across business and IT teams
  • Ability and desire to learn new technologies
  • Strong decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to lead and mentor others.
  • Adept at estimating levels of effort; understands the financial implications of the project (i.e. software capitalization, cost/benefits, etc.).
  • Experience with building positive relationships and gaining trust with business partners
  • Ability to communicate to a wide variety of audiences, both business and technical.
