Director, Digital Systems Integration

Position is responsible for managing the integrations related to United Way Worldwide (“UWW”) Data Management Systems and external systems. The position is responsible for ensuring the development, alignment, and consensus related to data strategies are met. This role is responsible for proper alignment supports of our data strategy in order to ensure we meet our corporate and individual partners’ needs. The position is also responsible for field engagement and monitoring and evaluating product success during the development, implementation and maintenance periods of the product’s lifecycle. This role will be a part of a team responsible for designing and delivering United Way World Wide’s world-class solution for Digital Engagement and Donor Management. We’re looking for proficiency in Salesforce development, mobile-responsive applications, integration, automation, and user experience, as well as the ability to guide a development team and build knowledge amongst a growing team of junior developers. Serves as a member of the Information Technology team but also works in partnership with areas such as Digital Services, GCL and Research (i.e., other areas responsible for data management).

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION:

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

  1. Work with United Ways (UW) to build consensus around data exchange protocols within United Ways, between United Ways, and between United Ways and UWW.
  2. Work with UW vendor community to build buy-in and implementation around data exchange protocols.
  3. Manage key vendor relationships around integration and system development
  4. Build collaboration among United Ways around collectively building systems and customizations for use by the United Way network
  5. Manage a centralized database (IGuide) to maintain United Way focus areas, agencies and agency programs (iGuide) for use by United Ways and Third Party Processors.
  6. In conjunction with Senior Director, Data and Processing Systems, drive increased adoption of iGuide with local United Ways and Integration of iGuide into backend systems, other Third Party Processors, Canadian Data Sources
  7. General UWW representation for other integration work within the system, including Salesforce integrations, external processing and distribution partners, etc.
  8. Engage the field on collaborative opportunities to improve system consensus, participation and performance across the network on technology related strategies. Serve as a consultative source to the field for best practices related to tools, vendor/product standards, hardware software, networking, etc.
  9. Interface with internal constituents and stakeholders to ensure technology products sufficiently support area divisions/departments at meeting their respective goals and objectives.
  10. Manage project team resources through creation of detailed and accurate project descriptions, estimates, functional and technical specifications, schedules, timelines and written status reports throughout a digital project lifecycle
  11. Document all aspects of project development and evolution through concise meeting notes, action items, task management and eliminate barriers in completion of projects
  12. Works with the Senior Director of Data and Processing Systems to manage resources for the project, including utilization of team resources, forecasting and budget management
  13. Manages scope, including identifying issues and working with the resources and client on resolution plans
  14. Must be able to multitask and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Computer Science or related field is preferred, MS a plus.
  • 5 to 7 years project management experience
  • Excellent organization, communication, and motivational skills with an attention to detail
  • A self-starter attitude; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively and ability to interact with people at all levels within the organization
  • Solid understanding of OOP, relational databases, and SQL for implementing database-driven, web-based applications
  • Experience with large scale system implementation, integration, interfaces and data conversion
  • Experience in using efficient methodologies (e.g. Agile – Extreme programing, writing user stories, and test-driven development) and continuous deployment tools (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Understanding of traditional PM processes
