The United Way of Central New Mexico (UWCNM) is seeking a President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO). UWCNM is a local non-profit organization serving Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance, and Valencia counties of New Mexico. The successful candidate must be able to provide strong, innovative leadership for the organization in promoting and developing UWCNM’s purpose, vision and mission. The President/CEO will leverage the power of relationships and networks to work across private, public and corporate sectors to improve conditions in our community. The President/CEO will be dedicated to shared and measurable goals; creating, resourcing, scaling and leveraging strategies for broad investment and impact.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • The President/CEO will lead and empower the UWCNM management team to provide management, marketing, resource development, and systems support to staff and volunteers in advancement of the organization’s mission and vision.
  • The President/CEO will oversee budget and information processes; maintain a leadership role among UWCNM stakeholders; support effective governance of the Board of Directors; provide direction for the implementation of the board-approved policies; facilitate stakeholder philanthropic priorities and alignment of funds for the benefit of UWCNM; promote and foster a work atmosphere that develops strong and effective staff.
  • The President/CEO will be a leader in actively fostering community partnerships at the local, regional, and national levels to maximize the use of resources and sharing of best practices.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in business, social sciences, education, nonprofit management or related field is strongly preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • The successful candidate is a highly qualified professional who possesses: extensive previous experience developing and managing high-performing volunteer leadership boards and committees, cultivating and sustaining relationships with major gift donors, corporate and private foundations as well as supervising and cultivating the talents of high-performing staff; extensive effective written and oral communication skills; demonstrated decisive and collaborative decision-making ability; documented ability to communicate a vision to team members, ensuring that their tasks are clearly aligned with the stated vision; documented capacity to develop and play a leadership role in strategic partnerships with a broad range of working relationships with opinion leaders/change-makers across the community.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate, through prior experience, advanced leadership and communication abilities that have led to organizational development and success in a highly dynamic setting responsive to a complex and changing environment.
  • Additionally, the successful candidate will have at least ten years of experience in transformational management and/or leadership.
  • Finally, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to collaboratively work with diverse communities in a variety of settings. Understanding of the social, economic and political landscape of UWCNM’s four-county area is preferred.
