  • Develop annual fundraising strategy that includes, local and national prospects, timelines, pivotal cultivation events/dates & strategy, quarterly fundraising committee meetings.
  • Represent and articulate United Way of the Greater Capital Region’s funding needs to government and foundation constituents.
  • Conduct on-going research to identify funding sources for United Way programming.
  • Increase the number of new funding partnerships aligned to the goals of the United Way of the GCR
  • Support senior leadership staff to present funding opportunities to community leaders.
  • Develop new signature events and enhance existing signature events to increase fundraising potential
  • Collaborate with the Community Impact team to integrate programmatic opportunities for funding.
  • Write and submit fundraising proposals, in cooperation with key focus area staff, according to requirements and deadlines.
  • Maintain updated annual database of donors for regular communication. Serve as a primary point of contact for donors to United Way of the Greater Capital Region.
  • Ensure programs integrate strategies in Education, Health and Income, where appropriate, to achieve planned outcomes.
  • Manage the organization’s grant and corporate gift portfolio of active funders
  • Work closely with finance department to ensure grant agreements, acknowledgements, auditing, and payments in a time-efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate weekly fundraising reports that reflect dollars in, pending and projected.
Educational Background: 
Well-qualified candidates should possess a Master’s degree in nonprofit management or public policy/ public health or business
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 7 years professional fundraising experience is required in a large nonprofit organization
  • Demonstrated success in development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources).
  • Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time
  • Superior communication, organizational, interpersonal, and strategic skills
  • Familiarity with National philanthropic community and high net worth individuals a plus
  • Persuasive writing, strong verbal communication and the ability to interact at the executive level are other key qualifications
  • Self-starter
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
