Oversee the direction and implementation of Bold Goal 1 and Bold Goal 2 strategies aimed at improving third grade reading scores and college and career readiness for Akron Public School graduates by leading, partnering, supporting and investing in strong models, organizations/institutions and initiatives. Responsible for managing the investment portfolio and developing/maintaining strong working relationships with community partners (volunteers, funded partners, and other stakeholders). Serves as subject matter expert in administration of Bold Goal 1 and Bold Goal 2 of the Community Impact agenda and works closely with the VP, Community Impact in program development and monitoring, technical assistance to partners ensuring proper implementation of the model, data review and program development to strengthen programs, and sharing best practices among partners. Fosters innovation through the use of shared data, measurement, and accountability; and performs other duties as assigned. Director, Education is a pivotal member of the team, contributing to idea generation, strategic thinking, organizational networking and collaborative team dynamics.
- (45 %) Program development and implementation: Develops an in-depth knowledge of relevant areas of responsibility and the Summit County ecosystem with an intentional focus towards supporting United Way’s bold goals related to Third Grade Reading and College & Career Readiness. Oversees the implementation of the wraparound community school model, iC.A.R.E. mentoring program and Imagination Library. Attends events and programs related to key priorities as assigned; stays abreast of current developments in the field and in the community; attends relevant continuing education or professional development programs. Conducts research of subject areas of interest to the organization as assigned.
- (30 %) Manages all staff assigned to these areas of responsibility: Prepares and implements measurable annual work plans to achieve internal program goals for wraparound model, iC.A.R.E. Mentoring and Imagination Library. Identifies, advises and counsels staff regarding developmental needs in line with program goals and organizational policies.
- (15 %) Partner Relationship Management for assigned area: Develops/maintains effective and solid working relationships between UWSC and other partners in the community seeking to achieve Bold Goal 1 and Bold Goal 2 objectives. Reviews and evaluates grant proposals, performs due diligence work, manages current grants, provides technical assistance to grantees or applicants as needed; evaluates grant results, prepares and presents funding recommendations to staff and volunteer review team; follows up on past grants and submitted evaluation reports; respects volunteers for their contributions.
- (10%) Public Policy Program Expert: Provide expert knowledge of programmatic work to assist with policy of assigned areas of responsibility.
- 5-10 years of experience in a related field (preferably a leadership role providing direct services within education).
- 3 years experience in a supervisory role.
- Competent in MS Office products.
- Interest in the improvement of the Summit County community.

PHYSICAL/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office, walking, climbing stairs.
- Must be able to sit, stand, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop.
- Extensive reading.
- Minimal lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Must be willing to work non-standard work schedule including nights, weekends, and other unusual hours on occasion.
- After-hours event attendance occasionally.
- Some overnight travel may be required.
- Valid driver license and proof of insurance.
- Access to reliable insured automobile to be used for work-related travel in summit County area.
- Ability to pass pre-employment background, drug screen, motor vehicle report and credit check.
