Summary:Directs and manages the day-to-day operations of three development departments, including national corporate sponsors, foundation grants and special events. Oversees this team in ensuring all goals and objectives are met for these areas. Also manages a sizable portfolio of major gift donors as well as serving on a team in the launch of a $40M strategic initiative campaign.
Basic Responsibilities:- Manages the day-to-day operations of a few key areas within the development department, namely national corporate sponsors, grants and special events. Management includes employee supervision, goal setting, budget setting and strategic plan development for these areas. It also includes ensuring all goals and objectives for these areas are met annually.
- Manages a personal portfolio of individual, major gift, corporate and foundation donors, including identification, qualification, solicitation and stewardship. Portfolio size will range from 100 – 250 and gifts will be in the range of $25,000 and above and be in support of strategic priority areas of the organization.
- Serves as a team member to launch a 5-year, $40M strategic initiative campaign entitled Innovating for Independence Orange County (IIOC) by carrying a portfolio of donors for this initiative as well as work closely with the CDO on campaign strategies for the overall project.
- In conjunction with CDO, supports executive staff and board members in execution of fundraising activities.
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university, preferably in Health and relevant experience Human Services, and 10 years’ of -OR- any combination of education, training or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Excellent leadership skills and 3-5 years’ people management experience is required.
- Demonstrated success in major gifts, capital campaigns and grant writing is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and fundraising software applications (e.g. Raisers Edge). 5. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with donors, business leaders, and executive staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and the ability to work cooperatively with individuals at all levels, both internal and external to the agency.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise a high level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive situations.
- Ability to create and implement measurable objectives.
- Ability to travel locally throughout Southern California to meet donors where they live or work; maintain driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards; maintain auto insurance and vehicle registration.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation per Easterseals Southern California and/or program requirements.
