Position Summary:  The Sr. Manger, Grants Acquisition contributes to the efforts of United Way of Metropolitan Nashville (UWMN) by researching and analyzing available grants in the arenas  of Education, Financial Stability, and Health to ensure UWMN programs receive the funding needed to sustain, and grow.  In addition, the Sr. Manager, Grants Acquisition provides management for all awarded grant requirements and reporting, ensuring UWMN remains in compliance.

Grant Writing Acquisition and Management

  • Researches grant opportunities to reach revenue goals that allow UWMN to begin new programs, sustain, and expand existing programs in Education, Financial Stability, and Health 
  • Prepares compelling grant proposals in pursuit of local foundation, state and federal  awards; ensures timely completion of applications and maintains funding agreement requirements.
  • Prepares compelling corporate sponsorship proposals aligned with UW mission and goals of corporate partner. 
  • Collaborates across departments assimilating teams to ensure all requirements for the grant are satisfied.
  • Maintains all grant related records including grant tracking and reporting in one consolidated location to allow accessibility and to ensure programs are meeting Terms of Agreement
  • Works with program leaders to submit grant progress reports and ensure update of internal tracking documents.  
  • Participates in internal and external audits of department grants/ contracts to show funding stewardship and integrity
  • Fosters relationships with funders and key stakeholders to build trust partnership with UWMN

 

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience:
    • Grant research and writing: 3 years
  • Skills:
    • Written, verbal, and technological communication
    • Researching and analyzing
    • Project management
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access
  • Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge of grant writing for federal, state and local foundation grants
  • Strong knowledge of grant research tools
  • Familiarity with developing grant proposal letters
  • Familiarity with developing proposals for corporate sponsorship

Environmental Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee is required to stand, walk, climb and balance.
  • Employee spends a majority of time seated; working at a desk in front of a computer monitor.  Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.

Well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
