EXPECTATION FOR ALL EMPLOYEES:
Support the mission, vision and values of United Way of North Central Florida (UWNCF). When appropriate, participate in various after hours and weekend activities that benefit UWNCF and the community. Due to the leadership role UWNCF is called upon to play in the community, particularly during times of crisis, it is the expectation that all UWNCF staff will be fully engaged in the organization’s crisis plan and response efforts.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position recommends and executes creative strategies to assure measured growth and development within our workplace campaigns, our small business partners, and the residential and retirement community. The Manager of Resource Development will place a major emphasis on preserving and expanding our current revenue stream while identifying and developing strategies for new prospects. This individual will be responsible for achieving specific revenue goals in addition to a portion of the overall sponsorship sales goal.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Development Manager’s responsibilities include:
- Proactively cultivate and develop new relationships with individuals, small businesses and organizations to raise and leverage both financial and non-financial resources to achieve UWNCFL organizational goals and to develop strategic partnerships to achieve impact.
- Maintain personal relationships with assigned accounts, small business partners and individuals to ensure their continued participation and satisfaction with UWNCFL.
- Provide the "ideal experience" for volunteers/stakeholders/impact partners by providing an outstanding volunteer experience.
- Collaborate with other staff members on strategies/initiatives to increase revenue and UW presence through expansion into new services or market segments.
- Assist in planning and convening affinity groups such as the Small Business Partner Leadership Council, Emerging Leaders United and Women United.
- Plan, develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate strategies to ensure successful achievement of organizational development and impact area goals.
- Ensure that information is shared across departments so that all internal stakeholders have knowledge necessary to proactively support the work of the organization.
- Maintain a current understanding of and be able to articulate to customer/donors and the community at large, UWNCFL’s community impact model
- Assist with all organizational events as needed.
- Achieve sponsorship revenue goals as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of four years related experience and/or training with at least one year in sales or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience Requirements: Previous sales or equivalent combination of education and experience; previous work experience as a development officer of a non-profit organization or experience with volunteers and knowledge of United Way operations.

Technology Requirements: General knowledge and ability to use Internet Explorer, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

- Excellent written and oral communications skills; especially building professional and personal relationships.
- Superb attention to accuracy and details and follow-up.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of basic office and computer technology; including computer software such as Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.
- Knowledge of the Gainesville donor community preferred.
- Work is full time; with some evening, weekend work and travel required.
- Function as a positive and contributing member of the team.
- Must be willing and able to pass a thorough background and references check.
Contact: Internal: Communicate with all levels of the organization to exchange information and collect information, coordinate projects, and solve problems.
External: Communicate with volunteers, leaders, corporate partners, community media, trade associates, vendors, other United Ways, UWW and the general public, to exchange and collect information, solve problems and cultivate relationships. Respond to complaints and communication in a mature manner without devaluating the opinions of others. Relationships must be handled in a positive manner to project a positive image of UWNCFL. Presentation must relay a clear and concise message in all public speaking situations with Board Members, Donors, Affinity Group Members, CEO’s and general community business members.
Working Conditions: Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move.
