Easterseals North Texas (ESNT) is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist for the North Dallas Center. The Speech-Language Pathologist functions as an integral member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, providing outpatient evaluation, treatment and consultation services to children and adults and their families. The Speech-Language Pathologist focuses evaluation and treatment primarily on speech, language, feeding, and oral motor abilities. The Speech-Language Pathologist develops treatment plans that:

  • improve function and enhance activities of daily life,
  • focus on the individuals’ and the families’ stated needs,
  • are individualized to address each client’s unique needs, overcoming acknowledged weaknesses by identifying and using their strengths,
  • involve the client’s natural support system of family and friends to ensure generalization of skills learned in therapy sessions, and
  • require consistent practice and repetition between therapy sessions to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the treatment plan.  

Basic Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate clients referred for speech-language therapy services using established evaluation procedures and standardized assessments.
  • Develop short- and long-term treatment goals, plans and objectives (Plan of Care) based upon the initial evaluation and program requirements, and updates Plans of Care in accordance with standards.
  • Coaches family members and/or client in strategies and opportunities for incorporating new skills or techniques into normal routines and activities at home and other natural environments such as school or childcare center, church, a play group or relative’s home, etc.
  • Instructs client and family members in the proper and safe use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology.
  • Assists in coordinating services and makes appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Records client testing results, treatments, responses, and progress on designated forms.
  • Develops and maintains all client progress reports and documentation, in compliance with Easterseals policy and procedure and all other applicable standards, requirements, laws, rule and regulations.
  • Ensures client and family confidentiality by complying with Easterseals policy and procedure, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accessibility Act) requirements, and any other privacy requirements as may be specified by referral sources, funders or other licensing and regulatory entities.
  • Develops and presents staff in-service trainings.
  • Assists in developing and presenting community education and/or training.
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Must be licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist or Speech-Language Pathologist-Intern in the state of Texas; Certificate of Clinical Competence by ASHA is preferred, CFY will be considered.
  • Two or more years in related setting preferred.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems.
  • Must have ability to work in collaborative setting with multiple providers (Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Worker, Audiologist, Board Certified Behavior Analysts).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Candidate must be able to transfer, lift, carry, push or pull up to 20 pounds; walk, bend, squat, reach, crawl, and kneel; move mats and other equipment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Able to pass Easterseals standard criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Current driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance if travel in the North Texas area is required.
  • Must show proof of certification and license to practice speech-language pathology.
  • Certified, by an approved provider, in Adult CPR with AED and Infant/Child CPR.
  • Certified, by an approved provider, in Basic First Aid.

Additional Notes:Although openings are not always available, we accept applications on an ongoing basis for full-time, and part-time Speech Language Pathologists.
