The Leadership Giving Director for Leadership Circle (LGDLC) manages and directs the Leadership Circle donor network (300+ members) by cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual annual donors to support UWSL and our collective impact initiatives. Develops, implements, and refines strategic plans for aggressive growth of new prospects, retention of current members, and upgrades in philanthropic support. In conjunction with this, the LGDLC manages a high-level, volunteer Leadership Circle Steering Council in fundraising, programming, and volunteer community engagement in UWSL’s community initiatives. LGDLC will collaborate on workplace strategies through coordination with the Corporate Engagement Director and advisors. Maintains accurate donor records and revenue projections. Supports the united efforts of the Resource Development team goals and expectations.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Demonstrate professional management in leading, engaging, and holding accountable volunteer council(s).
  • Develop and implement plans to increase revenue from high wealth individuals, corporations, foundations, and target markets to support the retention and growth of donor networks, particularly Leadership Circle.
  • Create and maintains top prospect lists by identifying, researching, and qualifying potential donors both within the workplace and otherwise.
  • Cultivate and stewards relationships with new prospects and existing donors through personal contact, including visits, phone calls, email, and written correspondence.
  • Set appointments and meets with prospects and current members.
  • Develop a strategy to involve appropriate senior management and board members, as needed, to cultivate and secure individual investments and other corporate/foundation support.
  • Secure current and prospective annual contributions to increase membership into donor networks, primarily Leadership Circle.
  • Secure sponsorships for related events and projects.
  • Coach and involve qualified groups of volunteers in fundraising efforts and donor network goals.  
  • Manage the volunteer Leadership Circle Steering Council.
  • Input and maintain accurate records on CRM tools. Tracks and reports revenue and expenses. Keeps Vice President of Individual & Planned Giving and resource development team engaged and informed on Leadership Circle progress.
  • Engage donors using a variety of communications methods. Writes and prepares content for online communications (newsletters and other updates) for donor networks.
  • Collaborate with marketing team on appropriate marketing materials.  
  • Collaborate with the donor network team to improve the culture and level of philanthropy among donor networks and to promote/support all donor network events and programs.
  • Maintains appropriate, professional relationships with constituents for the benefit of UWSL. Are an honest steward of donor gifts and respects their philanthropic intentions. Adhere to Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethical Standards.  
  • Supports all Resource Development efforts. Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • Understands the fundraising cycle and has experience in managing and executing fundraising strategies and efforts
  • Innovative, collaborative, and self-directed
  • Outstanding communication skills, including writing, presentation, public speaking, and listening
  • Ability to see the big picture without missing details
  • Ability to work well with—and inspire confidence in—United Way staff, volunteers, and current and prospective donors
  • Excellence in building and maintaining business and personal relationships

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of fundraising, nonprofit, or project management experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft and Google suites
  • Experience with annual giving programs, fundraising events, and workplace campaign a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The employee is regularly required to communicate clearly, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices. The employee must be able to transcribe, read extensively, prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The employee is required to regularly travel to offsite locations to set-up presentations and displays physical and electronic forms. The employee must have the ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 30lbs.
Compensation/Benefits: 

$41,000 to $50,000 per year
