The purpose of this position is to collaboratively work with United Way of Pierce County (UWPC) leadership staff to identify grant strategy culminating with additional funding to support the mission of UWPC.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Finding grant opportunities that match the needs of UWPC and the needs of organizations offering grant funds.
- Research local, national, state, and federal grant opportunities meeting the needs of UWPC.
- Prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
- Collaborate with UWPC staff members to provide content, write, edit and submit Letter of Interests and grant applications to funders.
- Recordkeeping of grant applications including reporting application progress to UWPC leadership.
- Recordkeeping of progress of received goals of acquired grants including progress reports to UWPC leadership.
- Coordinate opportunities for UWPC leadership positions to meet/visit foundation officers and other funding prospects.
- Build/Maintain positive working relationships with grantors through stewardship toward current foundation and corporate donors
- Build/Maintain positive working relations with UWPC Board of Directors, colleagues, and volunteers.
- Engage in other fundraising activities.
- Troubleshoot situations as necessary
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Appropriate, directly-related experience may substitute for educational requirement.
- Three to five years’ experience working with grant development and project management.
- Experience with fundraising, volunteers, and advocacy groups.
- Basic Understanding of anti-poverty programs, engagement models, diversity/equity/inclusion, and family stability initiatives.
- Excellent research skills.
- Ability to attend to detail and the production of accurate work products.
- Ability to communicate clearly to a variety of constituents both orally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with sensitive information and honor confidentiality.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of constituents. An astute ability to appeal to funding organization boards.
- Ability to organize and coordinate multiple activities simultaneously and to meet established timelines for each activity.
- Ability to remain consistent, calm and fair under pressure.
- Ability to utilize MS Office software including advanced applications in Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to work extended hours as required by job demands.
- Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $61,000 to $70,000 per year
