The Regional Director of MCH is responsible for advancing the Foundation’s mission by ensuring all state, market and community program components are implemented and meet quality expectations in the assigned Region.
Principal roles and responsibilities include program strategy development and execution and staff management. The position reports to the VP of MCH Innovation and manages several state and market MCH Program Impact Leaders in the East region.
This is a telecommuter position.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop Plans, Objectives and Strategies: Lead strategic mission investment plan development and assessment in assigned states; monitor and ensure reporting of benchmarks.
- Budget Development and Grant Management: Develop and manage state and market program budgets in assigned states; collaborate with fellow MCH Program Impact Leader(s) in region to direct distribution and management of community grants within regional area.
- Develop Relationships: Cultivate and oversee geographic based MCH partnerships (PQCs, etc.)
- Technical Support: Provide leadership, guidance and technical support to state/market program staff in designated region, in consultation with MCH Program Impact, Science and Strategy, and Education and Health Promotion Departments, utilizing national and regional resources, including assisting states and markets to meet March of Dimes mission goals.
- Volunteer Development: Recruit and actively manage state program committees in assigned area. Provide training to state and market program volunteers on programmatic issues, strategies and volunteer committee development. Ensure a direct link between state program committees and market boards in assigned states.
- Integration and Internal Communication: Support regional revenue and communications team to develop and nurture relationships across designated geography; ensure that MCH Program Impact Leaders are connected with revenue development and communications colleagues in corresponding markets. Represent market and state programs to regional colleagues, ensuring integration and providing information to enable success in advocacy, program delivery, grant seeking, and fundraising efforts. Ensure strong collaboration, communication and integration with advocacy colleagues.
- Train Staff and Volunteers: Communicate, train, and ensure strategy and vision for Prematurity Campaign and 5.5/2030 Road Map project is implemented across the Foundation through the MCH Program Leaders and volunteers.
- Staff Leadership: Hire, orient, manage and review direct reports. Plan performance expectations, monitor and appraise the team member’s job results and performance in order to develop, coach and recognize direct reports. Utilize both distance and in-person meetings to provide ongoing technical assistance.
Educational Background:
Master’s Degree in Public Health, Education, Nursing or related field, or equivalent professional experience; knowledge of maternal and child health or public health; knowledge of structure and workings of state and federal maternal and child health and r
Skills/Experience:
- Previous Experience: A minimum of 8 years of directly related work experience required, including management experience; remote supervisory experience a plus.
- Physical Demands: Involves traveling by car, train or plane to meetings, trainings and supervisory work; involves sustained periods of computer work; involves significant phone and web-based discussion; may involve lifting and carrying boxes;
- Equipment Used: Computer, printer, telephone, copier and fax machine; familiarity working in common software programs and database systems.
