The Relationship Events Manager will lead strategy, development and implementation of the Chapter’s relationship events including but not limited to: Ablaze Dinner & Auction, Beefsteak Dinner, ALZ Stars and others events as needed. This position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding volunteers and donors to ensure the success of the Association’s fundraising efforts. This position is also a staff co-liaison for the Weatherford, Texas Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Areas of Responsibility: 

ABLAZE Dinner & Auction:

  • Manage alongside the Development Director: strategic planning and implementation of the chapter’s annual Fort Worth, Texas Dinner & Auction 
  • Recruit committee members, manage the committee as the staff lead and work with volunteers to achieve attendance and fundraising goals
  • Lead the event sponsorship efforts and fundraising strategies by working collaboratively with Executive Director, Development Director, committee, and volunteers by planning various wrap-around and cultivation events

ALZ Stars:

  • Develop an annual plan and budget for the ALZ Stars Team running event in association with The Cowtown Marathon 
  • Recruit team members, committee members, manage the committee as the staff lead and work with volunteers to achieve participant/team and fundraising goals
  • Lead the ALZ Stars sponsorship effort and fundraising strategies and work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to identify prospects and create proposals with Director of Development

Walk to End Alzheimer’s (WTEA):

  • Work with Walk to End Alzheimer’s Managers on the Weatherford, Texas Walk
  • Engages, trains and manages relationships with volunteers to develop and execute a local recruitment, cultivation and retention plan 
  • Completes activities effectively and efficiently to meet target deadlines for successful event execution
  • Develops and demonstrates skills in community organization, relationship building, talent identification and leadership development.
  • Collaborates with other key departments to ensure cross promotion and support of organizational goals and/or messages
  • Identifies trends and best practices; measures impact of specific actions; identifies and addresses issues as they arise and adjusts plans as required
  • Participates in webinars, conference calls and/or trainings offered by the Association 

Other:

  • Cultivate and steward relationships within the community to engage participation in volunteer activities, educational opportunities and events and to encourage their personal financial support, group fundraising and advocacy participation
  • Provide assistance and support to other Association special events and donor relations activities as needed
  • Assist the department’s other Constituent Events (The Longest Day) as needed in a support capacity during its implementation/execution season.
  • Work with cross-functional team members to insure inclusion of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s within Chapter promotional/communications channels including email, social media, e-News; public relations and local marketing efforts
  • Ensures compliance with Alzheimer’s Association policies and procedures for all marketing and event standards
  • Work with the Executive Director, Development Director and Director of Communications - Texas to develop and ensure Association branding and messaging are consistent for all events responsible for
  • Work with the Executive Director, Director of Development, Board members, committee members, and other development staff to create long-term, beneficial relationships with those who attend and/or support the events
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three of experience in relationship development, fundraising, volunteer engagement and event planning
  • Must be able to lead, motivate, train and work comfortably with volunteers
  • Team player - ability to partner internally and externally and maintain effective working relationships
  • Able to organize material and information so it is accessible and user-friendly
  • Flexible, creative, resourceful and independent
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills; willing to take initiative and work autonomously
  • Ability to sell the Chapter’s mission, programs and services to a variety of audiences, including corporate management, individual donors and volunteers

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with attention to detail
  • Ability to memorize, diagnose and solve problems
  • High level of enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with flexibility and good humor
  • Ability to work under stress and successfully handle several projects at once
  • Willingness to work on evenings and weekends if necessary
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license and insurance
  • Ability to occasionally lift 25 lbs. bend and stoop
