Save the Children, a global humanitarian and development organization, is seeking a Summer Legal Fellow to work in the Office of the General Counsel in Washington, DC.  This fellowship provides an excellent opportunity for law students to get exposure to the nonprofit sector, to legal issues related to international development and humanitarian assistance, and to the work of an in-house legal department, while contributing to Save the Children's programs in the United States and around the world.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Summer Legal Fellow will assist with short- and long-term administrative and legal research projects for the Office of the General Counsel. Specific projects will be assigned at the time of the Fellowship, but areas of practice may include:

  • Federal regulations for tax exempt organizations
  • Requirements for federal government grant recipients and contractors,
  • Contract review and drafting,
  • Corporate governance,
  • Intellectual property,
  • Lobbying and labor/employment law.   
Educational Background: 
Current enrollment in law school
Skills/Experience: 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects from start to finish
  • Prior exposure to corporate law, contracts law, tax law, and international law
  • International experience and familiarity with international development and humanitarian operations preferred
