The Finance department supports the Global Operations of PSI.  Working within the operations at headquarters provides a unique opportunity to see how PSI operates in the United States, as well as around the world.  Due to the complex nature of our work, we can never leave a job undone!

For this Staff Accountant position, PSI is looking for someone who is ready, able, and willing to step up and learn various functions within the Finance department at PSI.  This is an unmatched opportunity which will allow a motivated individual to learn about payroll, accounts receivable and donor revenue and reporting.  When necessary, the Staff Accountant will perform these roles.  In between all of this, we need someone with the drive to participate in additional special projects.  This will only enhance their knowledge of the intricacies of the Finance department.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Prepare financial reports to ensure proper reporting in compliance with donor agreements and related regulations, and timely submission;
  • Gain an understanding and be able to perform the process of obtaining and recording cash receipt information by regularly working with donor revenue and reporting accountants and financial analysts for cash receipt information;
  • Complete the full payroll cycle for all employees paid from the headquarters office;
  • Understand and consider risks related to payroll, accounts receivable, and donor reporting and the impact on the organization if these risks are not mitigated;
  • Identify process improvements and implement, as necessary;
  • Prepare journal entries, with consideration for US GAAP, PSI’s donor reporting requirements, and potential financial exchange risk;
  • Work on special projects as needed;
  • Provide assistance with internal or external audit requirements as required; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience, CPA highly desirable;
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years of accounting experience in financial reporting, non-profit environment or public accounting, within public accounting experience preferred;
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to effectively interact with senior management and individuals with varying degrees of financial knowledge; and
  • Fluency in computer application, including in-depth knowledge of electronic spreadsheets and other accounting software.
