In 2017 the Save the Children movement adopted a Gender Equality Policy positioning that a focus on gender equality is fundamental for achieving our vision for all children. The policy applies across our entire organization, to our work in both humanitarian and development contexts, globally and domestically, and across all levels, teams and departments.
Save the Children US is currently developing an agency-wide Gender Equality Strategy to operationalize the organization’s commitment to gender equality to effectively integrate gender equality into its operations and programming.
As a member of the Gender Equality Hub, the Gender Equality Fellow will support the implementation of the Gender Equality Strategy. Five priorities that will drive our work to promote gender equality at SCUS for the 2019-2021 strategy period include:
- Advancing gender equality within the organization
- Strengthen staff capacity to mainstream gender across the organization and programs
- Expand programming, advocacy and research focused on gender equality outcomes
- Increase funding and recognition for gender equality
- Engage with the global Save the Children movement
- The Gender Equality Fellow will work with the Associate Vice President, Gender Equality, the Gender Equality & Social Inclusion Specialist, and SCUS’ Gender Equality Hub to advance gender equality at SCUS.
- The Gender Equality Hub, a cross-divisional, cross-functional group, oversees the development and implementation of the Gender Equality Strategy to ensure that SCUS takes the necessary steps to be an organization which lives and breathes its gender equality principles.
