Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking talented professional to serve in the role of Senior Specialist, Veterans Build.

The Senior Specialist - Veterans Build, will support the Director in development and maintenance of new and existing veteran-focused relationships and in outreach to potential organizational partners. This individual will work closely with US Operations, Government Relations, and Advocacy to ensure the Veterans Initiative builds upon the existing policies, procedures, and other organizational support structures for effective program development. The Senior Specialist will be responsible for day-to-day implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of HFHI Veterans Build. This position oversees and is responsible for successful implementation of: national partnerships, new programs, and program design supporting Veterans Build.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and Implement national partnerships so that US affiliates have direct local benefit from national partnerships.
  • Coordinate with and support HFHI Government Relations and Advocacy in development and support of veteran focused initiatives and policies.
  • Liaison with State and Federal Government Offices and Departments focusing on veteran and veteran housing related issues.
  • Coordinate implementation of new programs under Veterans Build with the Program Management Team.
  • Develop and deliver training related to veterans, veteran housing and HFH affiliates to a variety of targeted audiences
  • Participate in Grant Development for new grants
  • Partner with HFHI Resource Development, providing input on proposals and communicating with donors
Educational Background: 
Bachelors degree in related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3-5 years of related experience in a program coordination position
  • Military/Veteran connection or experience with veteran organizations
  • Experience in working with veteran organizations and/or other housing related non-profits
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft software, internet and basic office equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task

Preferred:

  • Experience related to Housing, Veteran Housing, Homelessness issues
  • Demonstrated experience in developing training curriculums
  • Demonstrated experience delivering and facilitating trainings
  • Ability to analyze data in service of strategic planning
  • Critical analytical skills, especially in situations where the issues are not fully defined
