Coordinates Congressional communications and outreach, provides project and event management support, special projects and events for ACS CAN’s Federal Relations Team and similar assistance for other teams.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Designs and maintains database and document retrieval system for the Federal Relations team, including voting records, legislator and district information records; letters to federal officials; coalition letters; fact sheets; and other materials as assigned. Point person for appropriate internal and external distribution of these materials as assigned.
- Coordinates delivery of routine correspondence, meeting minutes, hearing summaries, memos relating to federal advocacy initiatives to Congressional and Executive Branch offices.
- Provides project based support for Federal Relations team; including briefings; Lobby Day activities; workgroup meetings; coalition meetings. Assists in managing and implementing team and department-wide projects and events, including hill briefings, lobby day participation, etc.
- Monitors publications and online sources for relevant media articles; bill introductions; co-sponsorship updates; briefings and other events relating to the priority work of the Federal Relations Team. Identifies and channels priority items to ACS CAN staff as appropriate.
- Assists with contracts and sponsorship agreements.
- Conducts research as needed and assists in materials production for events, speeches, and presentations as assigned.
- Provides support for ACS CAN led One Voice Against Cancer Coalition. Duties include distribution of email communication with all OVAC members, attend hearings and briefings, manage member sign on letters, distribute letters to Congressional Members and staff, manage content for coalition website, and help plan and execute mini capitol hill days.
- Monitor and track ACS CAN priority policy issues as assigned.
- Attend coalition meetings, and external briefings to represent ACS CAN.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree and one to two years of experience in an advocacy, government relations, or Congressional office preferred.
