We are excited to announce this opportunity to serve as Senior Program Officer for policy related to career pathways and economic mobility with the North America Team. Specifically, maintain an existing portfolio of grants and/or contracts requiring high-level grant management skills, monitoring and evaluation on a range of education, workforce and economic issues. As a key advisor on strategy initiatives, contribute to the continued development of the team’s strategic vision, while partnering closely with team leadership on the North America team as well as the program teams, to set the overall strategy and goals for the work.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Knowledge of career pathways to include but not limited to, education pathways, workforce policy, and understanding of economic and labor market trends impacting current and future workforce needs.
- Directly or indirectly lead and implement the strategies in the portfolio with an emphasis on career pathways, workforce policy and the understanding of economic and labor market trends impacting current and future workforce needs.
- Provide quantitative and/or policy analysis of economic issues in the portfolio or other related issues as needed.
- Development and management of the portfolio of grants and/or contracts.
- Monitor the performance of partners and grantees with an understanding of engagement and capacity building which lead to effective partner action and engagement in policy success.
- As needed, take the lead on an issue to oversee related policy activities.
Educational Background:
Advanced degree in education, public policy, economics or related field required.
Skills/Experience:
- Broad and deep knowledge of career pathways, to include but not limited to workforce policy at the federal and state level.
- A preference for experience in quantitative analysis and understanding of economic and/or labor market trends and the impact on the current and future workforce needs.
- Deep understanding of how policies at the federal, as well as state level are formulated, enacted and implemented.
- Ability to leverage partners to meet policy goals.
- Ability to work across teams in a highly matrixed environment.
- Shown ability to lead and influence others in a constructive manner and to build and sustain collaborative relationships internally and externally.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively synthesize information to reach diverse audiences and build consensus.
- Strong quantitative analytic skills.
- 7+ years of relevant experience to include experience in US education, workforce policy national and/or state policy and advocacy with a preference for experience in quantitative analysis of economic and/or labor markets at the federal and/or state levels.
