Save the Children‘s U.S. Rural Education programs help children in low-income, rural communities become kindergarten ready and achieve grade-level reading and math proficiency by third grade. We employ diverse strategies to achieve this including home visits, play groups, in-school tutoring, out-of-school time programming, summer enrichment, family engagement, community events and more. The part-time (20 hours per week) Senior Coordinator will primarily collect, document and analyze secondary data. The data will provide us with information on the context where we work and the difference we are making in those communities.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Finding, downloading and modifying Census, state test score, and other data as necessary and storing them in a consistent format in our systems (50%)
- Data management, cleaning, analysis and reporting support (20%)
- Submitting research protocols (summaries of the research we currently have underway) to Save the Children’s ethics review board (20%)
- Administrative work including survey scanning, qualitative interview scheduling, mailing surveys, etc. (10%)
Educational Background:
High School or Technical/Vocational Degree
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum 3-4 years’ relevant experience
- Experience working with education and/or social science data
- Experience working with U.S. Census data
- Strong Excel skills (e.g. facility with formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
- Detail focused
- Able to work 20 hours per week
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with state test score data
- Experience responding to requests for calculations and data reports
- Experience using Tableau and/or PowerBI
