Save the Children’s U.S. Programs and Advocacy (USPA) division partners with low-income, rural communities across the country to give children living in these underserved areas a healthy start, the best possible opportunity to learn and protection from harm. USPA’s Domestic Emergency Unit ensures that the specific needs of children are met – before, during and after an emergency. 

USPA is seeking a full-time, highly-motivated Senior Coordinator for Program Quality and Implementation to support our Rural Education and U.S. Emergencies programs. This position is based in Washington D.C. and will report to the Associate Vice President of Program Quality and Implementation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in furthering their skills and experience in nonprofit development and government relations.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Coordinate the execution of the division’s strategy around rural education and domestic emergencies (50%)

  • Work with State and National teams to set targets and track progress against annual and strategic performance metrics.
  • Assist in gathering, analyzing and reporting quantitative and qualitative program data, to inform monitoring and evaluation efforts.
  • Help fundraising and communication colleagues “tell the story” of program success.

Support special projects, as needed, aligned with the division’s strategy (20%)

  • Support continuous improvement efforts to advance strategic initiatives.
  • Provide coordination support for divisional meetings and field visits.
  • Support Domestic Emergency Unit-led responses, as appropriate.
  • Work with AVP to identify other areas in need of support.

Coordinate Program Leadership Team (10%)

  • Manage schedule and agenda for weekly Core Team meetings and monthly Program Leadership Team meetings.
  • Work closely with AVP and his direct reports to ensure alignment on priorities.
  • Represent team on cross-functional working groups as appropriate.

Support the AVP of Program Quality and Implementation. (20%)

  • Ensure the AVP is prepared for meetings and events; coordinate and develop briefings and other materials.
  • Prepare travel arrangements and expense reports for the AVP.
  • Assist in tracking correspondence with donors/prospects, policymakers and partners.
  • Provide other administrative support as needed.
Educational Background: 
High School or Technical/Vocational Degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • You have a minimum 3-4 years' experience in area of expertise
  • Strong technology skills (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to work productively and proactively, both independently and within a cross-functional team environment
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Flexibility in approach and willingness to adapt when necessary
  • Passion and commitment to Save the Children's mission and values

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, social work or other related field
