Program Officer I - ACT to End NTDs Program

Provides programmatic and operations support Act to End Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) | West Program. Collects, complies, and analyzes information relevant to Act to End NTDs | West Program. Provides administrative and program support, in addition to communication efforts related to program management and execution. Ensures compliance with internal and external regulations. Monitors budget for programs and develops monitoring system for reviewing program status. Ensures completion of program while adhering to budget, scope, and schedule requirements. Develops/Reviews work plans, prepares presentations, and supports other related Act to End NTDs | West program objectives and deliverables.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provides support to Act to End NTDs | West program management such as troubleshooting, updates work plans, coordinates travel arrangements and monitors program activities.
  • Assists with program procurement actions, processing of payments from vendors and subawards.
  • Facilitates communication by uploading and categorizing documents, photos and other content to project website.
  • Provides graphical design and layout support for various online and print communication materials and coordinates with vendors and printers.
  • Designs, implements, and coordinates specific program activities and may conduct basic research to achieve program goals.
  • Works with Program Managers and assists with developing budgets, proposals, managing grants, project materials, and information.
  • Collects, complies and analyzes information relevant to the Act to End NTDs | West program.
  • May provide administrative support to programs as needed by writing, reviewing, and translating reports on a quarterly basis.
  • Reviews and helps format and proofread program deliverables as requested.
  • Supports documentation and sharing of project accomplishments, challenges, and lessons learned among internal and external partners.
  • Serves as the liaison with internal units, such as Finance, Contracts, Purchasing, Travel… etc.
  • Supports program team administratively and technically to provide high quality deliverables to client.
  • Provides administrative support related to communication activities, such as helping to maintain a contact database/email list for our e-newsletter; maintaining publication, events and social media trackers/calendars; providing admin support for the program communication working group, etc.
  • Responds to internal and external inquiries (i.e. from team members and partners as well as from the public).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Decisions may cause delays and affect a work unit or area within a department.

Supervision Given/Received:

  • Receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
  • Uses independent judgment in determining work-flow and priorities.
  • Typically reports to a Manager/ Associate Director/ Director.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • Working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures with program design.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and graphic design software.
  • Ability to problem solve and recommend corrective action as needed.
  • Strong organizational and attention detail needed to adhere to project deadlines.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in graphic design and communications and public health program operations, and familiarity with US Government rules and regulations.
  • Articulate and professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English; French language is a plus but not required.
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization.
  • Prior experience using Microsoft Office Suite and graphic design software preferred.
