Program Officer 1- Exchanges

This position will provide support to the international exchange component of the Microscholarship English Access program including managing partner selections processes; the sub-award set-up and management of diverse international exchange programs for teachers, teacher trainers, and administrators. The position will provide administration and logistics support to participants including but not limited to J-Visa support; pre-departure support; travel logistics. The Program Officer will work to build a system for maintaining files, receipts, and reports for exchange programs. The Program Officer will build client and partner relationships.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support the planning and implementation of international exchange activities.
  • Manage participant communication before, during and after the exchange.
  • Lead the procurement of participant travel (flights, hotel, etc.) and support the planning and facilitation of other program logistics.
  • Monitor, track, and report on participant nomination and selection process using the portal/system.
  • Prepare and disseminate arrival packets to participants
  • Perform quality control reviews of program materials, tools, and systems.
  • Organize project documents on SharePoint site.
  • Assist Senior Program Officer with overall participant support, partner relationships, and client requests.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, FHI 360 shared services staff, outside vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Performs other related duties assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent - Knowledge/Information Services, Communications, Education, Environment, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences International Development, Human Development or Related Field. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization.
  • Demonstrated experience working in international exchanges for a minimum of 2-3 years.
  • Demonstrated J-Visa experience preferred.
  • Articulate and professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.
  • Exceptional ability to manage multiple priorities; deal with inquiries and requests; and maintain close attention to detail.
  • Excel skills required; experience in Sharepoint and CRM databases preferred.
  • Knowledge of US government regulations and procedures preferred.

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Typical office environment. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift 5-50 lbs.

  • Personal Computer, Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), e-mail, telephone, printer, calculator, copier, cell phones, PDAs and other hand held devices.
