Nutrition-Specific Technical Integration Lead

The Nutrition-Specific Technical Integration Lead is a full-time position based in the Washington, DC office. The Nutrition-Specific Technical Integration Lead will work with the Director of Program Integration and the other Technical Integration Leads to develop the core work plan and supervise the technical team advisors in support of core and country-funded activities. The Lead will also collaborate closely with the Regional Managers to ensure integration of core and country activities, approaches, research, learning, and knowledge transfer. She will oversee the quality of nutrition-specific programming in core and country programs, and will work with the other Technical Integration Leads to ensure harmony and integration of MSN perspectives and programming approaches. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and implement the overall strategic direction for global nutrition-specific activities, in consultation with the Director of Program Integration, Technical Programs Manager, core team, country teams, and partners;
  • Guide and manage nutrition-specific core activities, working in close collaboration with the Director of Program Integration, Technical Programs Manager, and other Technical Integration Leads;
  • Provide technical leadership to promote proven nutrition interventions in multi-sectoral nutrition programs, ensuring the integration of nutrition-specific interventions and learning across the global and country portfolios;
  • Oversee the quality and delivery of core nutrition-specific programs and products, lead engagement in global forums on nutrition, and provide technical assistance and support to country programs;
  • Work with other Technical Integration Leads and the Director of Program Integration to develop annual core work plan activities and budgets;
  • Lead a team of technical advisors to develop program guidance and tools that strengthen nutrition interventions and indicators in multi-sectoral programs for both country programs and for the global nutrition community;
  • Collaborate with the Technical Programs and MIRL teams to define strategic approaches to scale-up high-impact nutrition interventions and identify areas for further research and learning;
  • Support management, monitoring, coordinating, and reporting of information related to core nutrition-specific activities to ensure objectives are achieved on time and within budget;
  • Work with the Technical Programs Manager, Regional Managers, and country Chiefs of Party to ensure that quality nutrition-specific technical assistance is provided;
  • Travel as required (up to 30% is required);
  • Supervise 3-5 Technical Advisors.
Educational Background: 
An advanced degree in public health, nutrition, or a related field;
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 15 years of international nutrition-focused experience, over 10 years implementing programs in LMICs
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical staff and work with key country partners;
  • Previous work experience with USAID required;
  • Proven track record of innovation and technical quality for multi-sectoral nutrition programming;
  • Deep understanding of nutrition-specific programming approaches and best practices, as well as the integration of nutrition-specific approaches into multi-sectoral nutrition programs;
  • Experience designing both global and country-specific work plans and interventions for multi-sectoral nutrition programming;
  • Strong writing and oral presentation skills;
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
