We are looking for an entrepreneurial manager with strong analytical skills to support PSI’s growing market dynamics portfolio.  The Market Dynamics Manager will work within PSI’s cross-cutting Market Dynamics team as part of the Global Marketing Department at PSI. He/she will work with teams including Country Teams, Global Marketing, Health Areas, and Evidence to define problems, conduct analyses, apply findings, and propose solutions to address market failures that restrict access to essential products and services.  Multiple teams and health focus areas will draw upon this manager to contribute to team needs across global, regional and country-level projects.  Early projects will focus on new products and technologies in the family planning and reproductive health space. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Build and use a range of analytic tools and modeling approaches to help achieve goals of PSI projects and programs.
  • Support the continued development and rollout of standardized process and guidance to support country teams in conducting market assessments, diagnosing market failures and intervening to increase access to essential health products and services.
  • Conduct primary market research and market landscape projects for global health products (drugs, diagnostics, medical devices) and services (e.g. family planning methods, HIV testing, primary care) to understand the public and private market dynamics in low- and middle- income countries.
  • Perform health impact and market size modeling for high priority technologies.
  • Analyze and develop market intervention strategies for target markets in global health to inform decisions of country teams, governments, donors and other stakeholders.
  • Represent PSI at key conferences/global events on access and market strengthening.
  • Contribute to the evidence base of best practices in designing market interventions to address root causes.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of experts in PSI and externally.
  • Develop and share key findings and lessons learned across PSI and externally.
  • Contribute to and help initiate new projects and activities in market analytics.
  • Support cross-cutting projects and strategy development.
Educational Background: 
Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Public Health, or equivalent advanced degree

Education & experience:

  • Minimum five years in market analysis, healthcare management consulting or other relevant private and public sector experience.
  • Three or more years of experience working in the area of global health markets. Knowledge of procurement, new product introductions and developing country markets is required.
  • Knowledge of reproductive health and family planning.
  • Solid technical knowledge of market analytics including:
  • Building, implementing and analyzing market research studies and quantitative models to inform global or developing country decision-making, e.g., demand forecasts and impact models.
  • Analysis of product development and introduction scenarios to chart pathways for new product introduction.
  • Ability to identify key trends from complex and ambiguous datasets.
  • Ability to synthesize project findings and translate into programmatic and policy recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain close and effective relationships with partnering organizations at local, national, and international levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning/management and balancing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Proven effectiveness working in a team-based environment, but capable also of working independently.
  • Experience working with and managing external consultants.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in assessing both private and public sector markets a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to approximately 25% of the time.
  • References will be required.
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass a background check. 
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.  N.B. PSI will not consider work visa sponsorship and relocation expenses will not be covered for this position.

What would get us excited?

  • Strong prior experience in the roll out of new health innovations ideally in the family planning and reproductive health space,
  • Experience with key partners in market dynamics such as CHAI, PATH, Global Fund, RHSC, etc.
  • Commercial experience in taking a new product to market,
