Manager, Individual & Corporate Giving

The Manager of Individual Giving will help lead critical elements of three major individual giving campaigns as an essential member of the D.C. Region’s Growth & Stewardship team, which is responsible for raising more than $20 million in operating revenue over the next four years. Together with the Director, Individual Giving , you will be responsible for raising a about half of the region’s annual revenue ($1.85M annually) and developing a diverse and sustainable local funding base of approximately 300 individual and corporate donors  to achieve our ambitious fundraising targets and support our mission. 

You will spend your time co-leading the creation of an event stewardship calendar to produce  high-quality donor-facing experiences (e.g. regional events, community dinners, school visits, etc.); researching existing donors and identifying new individual and corporate donors, including board members; developing and managing stewardship plans for individual and corporate donors; and investing and training a small group of teacher volunteers to serve as ambassadors of TFA at events. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Donor Stewardship and Events (30%)

  • Design and maintain an annual donor stewardship calendar of events and activities that increase donor engagement and work closely with the Associate, Development Operations to ensure strong donor management for these events 
  • Collaborate with team to manage, plan, and execute tailored engagement opportunities such as stewardship dinners, donor receptions and other opportunities for donors to engage with our corps members and alumni
  • Plan and execute event preparation trainings for a group of teacher volunteers and  serve as the primary point of contact and support for Teach For America teachers and alumni at donor-facing events 
  • Work with regional colleagues to design collateral and event marketing materials and ensure seamless communications and follow up to event guests 
  • Partner with the Director, Individual and Growth & Stewardship team to identify and align event stewardship opportunities for regional donors and project manage the guest preparations and communications for non-gala events 

Individual Giving Research, Stewardship, and Strategy (30%)

  • Maintain excellent relationships with individual donors and prospects, mostly through stewardship events 
  • Partner with the Director, Individual Giving to ensure aligned stewardship plans for all individual giving donors towards a goal of $1.85M. 
  • Own the identification, research, and creation of strategy and stewardship plans for sub $10k donors 
  • Support donor engagement and strategy for board prospects through the preparation of accurate, concise and thoughtful meeting briefs
  • Analyze historical and market data to inform fundraising goals for annual and multi-year planning 

Corporate Giving Research and Stewardship (20%)

  • Project manage and execute the region’s corporate strategy towards a goal of $270k this year
  • Identify and research new corporate prospects, resulting in at least $100k
  • Write brief corporate proposals and meeting prep documents

Development Operations (10%)

  • Utilize SalesForce database to maintain meticulous donor records related to individual giving and corporate portfolio

Regional Team Responsibilities (10%)

  • Support, attend, and/or participate in all regional and Growth & Stewardship team activities, including corps member selection and matriculation, corps member professional development days (approx.5/year), staff meetings, functional team meetings and retreats, and regional orientation (one week in June)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • At a minimum, 2-4 years of professional experience, including 1-2 years of experience in development or fundraising. 

Thrives in fast-paced, demanding environment with exceptional organization and detail-orientation.

  • Operates with a high level of personal responsibility and optimism.
  • Ability and willingness to achieve results through others and manage superiors and peers.
  • Strong customer-service orientation who can leverage a keen understanding of the beliefs, motivations and contexts of others as well as the power of networks to influence donors towards meaningful outcomes
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and development database programs. 
  • Able to handle confidential and sensitive information.
