The Health Systems Strategist (Area West) serves as the lead representative of the Alzheimer’s Association in its work with some of the largest and most complex health care organizations in the United States. They lead engagement with organizations such as large health care delivery systems, payers, and national associations to achieve strategic objectives of the Association, particularly improving access to timely diagnosis and quality care for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. This senior account management position works collaboratively across departments to increase early detection, diagnosis, disclosure and care planning and management for individuals living with dementia and their families.  

Primary areas of responsibility include managing health care organization accounts, cultivating relationships, assessing needs and opportunities to improve diagnosis and care practices, advising accounts on the adoption of evidence-based care models, coaching on quality improvement, and monitoring and analyzing data to achieve outcomes. This position requires a self-starter with a strong background in health care quality improvement and extensive knowledge of the health care industry. In addition, this position requires a self-starter who can develop new relationships and initiatives that create strategic value for the Association and the accounts.  

This position can be based in any major city in the lower states of the U.S. with frequent travel throughout assigned area and reports to the Sr. Director, Health Systems.  

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Leads Association engagement across a large geographic section of the U.S. with prioritized health care organizations, such as large health systems, payers and national associations, to increase the Association’s influence and value in the health care industry  
  • Achieves the Alzheimer's Association's objectives to improve ADRD diagnosis, disclosure, and care through a consultative and collaborative approach to increase the uptake of effective clinical practices  
  • Partners with other Association staff for coordinated, strategic engagement with prioritized health care accounts  
  • Develops and cultivates a portfolio of health care organization partnerships, with an emphasis on those with the greatest potential to impact organizational goals  
  • Cultivates productive relationships with key decision makers and champions in health care organizations  
  • Contributes to increased visibility, credibility, relevance and influence for the Association in its engagement with the health care industry  
  • Builds a robust stream of referrals from clinical settings to services and programming at the Association   
  • Assesses an account’s readiness, capacity, needs, and interests and uses this assessment to guide products and solutions to offer  
  • Provides training and technical consultation to key members of health care accounts and their staff, including clinicians, on the implementation of clinical practice guidelines and systems change strategies for timely and accurate ADRD detection, diagnosis, disclosure, and care  
  • Ensures accurate assessment of an account’s baseline status and tracking of progress on ADRD-related quality measures   
  • Works with other Alzheimer’s Association staff and with health care accounts on evaluation of systems-based programs and products for ADRD clinical practice improvement  
  • Utilizes professional experience and expertise to inform the work of the Association in developing health care solutions targeted to health care accounts, in consultation with home office, regional and chapter staff    
Educational Background: 
Master’s degree in health care, health administration, or public health or other relevant field required  
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 8- 10 years of progressive, professional experience working for or influencing care delivery within a large health system, payer, professional association, federal/state government health agency or similar  
  • Minimum 8- 10 years of progressive, professional experience cultivating productive working relationships with executive level and other senior decision-makers in client or partner organizations  
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in health policy issues affecting healthcare delivery and understanding of business and market trends in health care  
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of relevant aspects of health systems and health care operations, such as person-centered care, access to care, quality measurement, and payment and policy issues  
  • Experience in general health care administration, developing strategy, and implementing successful programs to improve clinical practice in large and complex health ecosystems preferred  
  • Experience in conducting clinical quality improvement including encouraging providers to adopt evidence-based care models, providing coaching on quality improvement, and monitoring and analyzing data to achieve improved health outcomes in large health systems preferred  
  • Experience in account management or consultative sales preferred  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; familiarity with Google Suite preferred  
  • Familiarity with EMR/HER, population health management, and analytics software strongly preferred  
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for the job  
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50-75%, by ground and air transport  
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
